OK, now for the weekend update. On Friday evening we met up with veronica_rich and had a lovely dinner then went on the ghost tour. It was really fun but very humid and we walked our little feet off. Afterwards beldar went back to work and she & I went to Wal-Mart to do some shopping and look at the Halloween stuff. We had a ball. At one point she found a huge fake lipstick and we've got a few pictures of her trying to put it on a pig (surprisingly, it's hard to find a pig in Wal-Mart).

Saturday we slept in a bit and then got up and did a bit of cleaning (not nearly enough) and watched stuff on the DVR (we've finished the season of "Middleman" *sad cries*). At about 5:30 or so, our electricity went off (the whole area did) and since we were planning on going downtown to see the show later that night, we decided to go ahead and head downtown until the play started.

Unfortunately we forgot that they were having the Kenny Chesney concert at Lucas Oil Stadium and a preview for the MotoGP race on the Circle so there was absolutely no parking at all. Luckily, we found a space at Shapiro's had some dessert and waited it out. We ended up watching the end of the Purdue game and it was really good (even though they lost).

Then we went to the Phoenix to see "November". It was fantastic! It was incredibly funny, the acting was perfect and they set was very impressive. The only thing that marred the performance was that the people sitting next to us got very rude about my laughter. We ended up moving at intermission because they were so bad. Of course, even after we moved (six rows above them, mind you), they turned around and gave me mean looks every time I laughed. I guess they were Republicans. Still, the show is amazing and you really should see it. In fact, I need to write to David Mammet about the fact that he stole one of my regular lines from me. By the time we got home, the electricity was back on.

Sunday we woke early and reluctantly got out of bed and went to church (bed was so cozy and I was so sleepy). We arrived a little late but did make it. After the service, we went to Penzey's for some more spice and hit BD's Mongolian BBQ because beldar had a free birthday dinner. Then we went by World Market and picked up a few things for Halloween & TLAPD.

After that, we rushed to the Civic to see "Little Shop of Horrors". The show was really fun. This is one of my favorite shows and they did a great job with it. They made some bold moves in casting a white girl in the traditionally black chorus and having the chorus girls change costumes repeatedly but they really added something to the show so it wasn't bad. In fact, my only real complaint is the way they handled the finale. In the previous performances I've seen they have a black cloth backdrop that has been adorned with branches and the flowerbuds but in this one, they put people in what looked like big green condoms with flowers on top. It really didn't work and was sad considering the excellence of all of the rest of the costuming and scenery. Still, don't let this discourage you from seeing the show. It's still great and the cast is superb.

They even help up well with the curve ball that the weather threw at them (I told you I'd get around to Ike earlier, didn't I?). Right at the end of the next to the last song, the electricity went out. This was due to the high winds from the remnants of Ike passing over. They managed to get it turned back on rather quickly and finished the show just fine but it does go to show the fine level of professionalism in that it that they not only pulled off the final song beautifully, they managed to get in a dig at the storm at one point.

The high winds also caused the Moto race to end early and they were getting out at the same time we did. Therefore, rather than go shopping on the westside as we had originally planned, we headed down to Greenwood to do some shopping and waited things out there. However, upon returning home, we found our power to be out again. So we went out for dinner. We had originally planned to go to the Applebee's near our place but when we got there, there were others waiting to be seated and after about five minutes or so of waiting, we just left. The couple in front of us did the same. So we ended up at Blueberry Hill and had dinner there and hung out until they closed at nine. Afterwards we ran by the house and it was still dark. The nearby blocks had power but our street was without. So we went to Wallgreens and bought a wind-up alarm clock and went back home and went to bed. It took a while to get to sleep because cat was yowling and hissing in the window, the neighbor dogs were barking and it was still rather hot but we finally did and work up when the electricity returned at around 12:15 or so. We closed the window, turned off the unnecessary lights and fell back asleep.

This morning there were still places without power and around 9 school systems had to cancel classes due to this. Traffic on the way to work was horrible due to wrecks and I just barely made it on time. One of the other girls was late and the newest girl called in to say she was in one of the wrecks. She made it here for about an hour or so but then left.

So, that's my weekend. How was yours?

I will talk to you tomorrow. TTFN!
