Well, our weekend plans went a bit off the mark as we were hit by another snowstorm on Saturday. Friday after I left work we tried to get the car moved but that didn't work out so we called roadside assistance and they finally made it out around 9PM. They unstuck the car and then put on the donut and I got it moved back up into the parking lot.

However, Saturday's snows kept up from driving it out and we missed the show at Beef & Boards (we've rescheduled for next weekend). So, we spent the day at home digging out and taking care of things around the house as well as watching stuff on the DVR. We finally got to see "Saw 2" which was pretty good.

Sunday we spent the morning calling around to try and locate tires for my car. It seems I have a very popular size and the only place with any left was Pep Boys. Now, I've never dealt with them before but they were sort of assholes, so I doubt I will do much business with them again.

After fixing the car, we ran up to the north side and had our Chinese New Year meal at Forbidden City. It was great. They had a bunch of great new dishes this year including a pork and baby bamboo shoots one that looked incredibly bland but had an underlying heat that was pleasantly inviting. I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I wanted to as my tooth is really hurting and it's very hard to eat without it wracking me in agonizing pain (I have a dentist appointment next Monday, and it's a bit better today).

After the meal, we dashed down to The Key Cinema's to see the Oscar Shorts. This was really fun but unlike past years, it really didn't help us in filling out our ballot. Mainly because every single one of the live-action shorts was incredible and there was really no one that stood out as better (although quality doesn't always win out i.e. - The Wasp). It did help with the animated choices though. I could easily eliminate one or two of them. I was surprised that Disney decided to keep true to the original ending of "The Little Match Girl" as they have screwed up all of his prior works when they've adapted them.

After that we went home and stayed warm while watching more TV. I tried to get beldar to watch "Joe vs. the Volcano" but he wasn't interested. Shame too, it's a much better film than you'd think and very surreal. Kind of like "The Hudsucker Proxy". We did watch "The Colbert Show"'s interview with Vic Snyder. That was great.

Anyway, I had a weird dream last night about the Doctor Who club which brings me to a news story I need to share. While we were calling around about tires, we happened to catch footage about a fire in Shelbyville when we caught sight of a very familiar looking blue structure with a light on top. Thanks to the magic of DVR, we taped it and will get a copy of the tape over to S. so that he can analyze the tape to see if it is indeed the Tardis.

I wonder...

Well, that's it for now. I will update later with my LJ Idol results (I'm not doing too well but I'm not in danger yet).

TTFN!
