mod's note: the_cortex closing

Jul 19, 2009 22:19

Hey there Cortex watchers. This is not an issue but an announcement. naughtyelf and I have been discussing some things and we've decided that it's time to hang up our browncoats, so to speak. I realize there's not a lot of warning here, but this has been a quick decision. We're both increasingly busy, and real life has just gotten in the way. That said, it has been an amazing four years and 1200+ issues. We both continue to love Firefly, but between our lack of interest in the fandom itself these days and our real lives getting increasingly more hectic, it's just impossible.

It's been a great time for both of us, and we want to thank each and every one of you for giving us stuff to update about, even four years later. Fandom is still going strong, and for all of your firefly needs we encourage you to head over to firefly_signal. They're also looking for some new editors, if anyone wants to let them know they're willing to help!

I also want to thank anyone who gave us tips or helped us out by covering or being our co-editors. Rach and I have appreciated every single one of you for making the_cortex as successful as it's been. That was a group effort, and it means a lot to us.

When we started this newsletter almost four years ago, we had no idea that it would turn into what it did, and we're very proud of what we've accomplished. But you know what they say. All good things must come to an end, and this is our end. I hope everyone out there continues writing and making icons and having fun with Firefly. It's been a blast.

-Rach (naughtyelf) and Shirley (playfullips)
