I don't often write political oriented thoughts down but I find myself booth wanting to cheer and shake my head at the same time. I think that California setting a precedent in this country on Gay marriage is great. I just wish they would have waited to do so after the November elections. Unfortunately I think we just gave the wildly floundering Republican party something to rally around at a very critical time. Up until now this election cycle has thankfully been able to avoid as Howard Dean once labeled "the three G's" (Guns, God, and Gays) For once it seems that real life broad issues like the war and economy are taking precedent over the constant culture war. I fear that they will take a backseat to it once again becuase of the timing of this.
As much as I think this is great I really would like the county to not always get stuck in these controversial topics at critical times. The Republican party has had up until now nothing at all to mobilize their base.
Now they do.
