So I am currently reading Jim Curran's novel K2: Triumph and Tragedy. It's interesting technically, but the author didn't actually climb much of the mountain so it's sort of a detached look at the tragedy that occurred there in 1986. Which is unique, but occasionally dry. But I love high mountaineering books anyways (if you're interested, I'd suggest Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer as a great first read - the events it documents are some of the most major tragedies to occur in mountaineering, and the narrative is enthralling).

Anyways, so I'm reading this book in advisory, and my teacher, who is the school's Future Business Leaders of America sponsor (in other words, she is helping to shape the American workforce) comes up to me and we have this conversation. Note that there is a huge mountain on the cover.

Her: What are you reading?
Me: A book about K2.
Her: Can I see it?
Me: -shows cover-
Her: Oh, so it's like about the skis?
Me: No, the mountain.
Her: What?
Me: K2. It's the second highest mountain in the world.
Her: So they named the mountain after the skis? That's so cool. I didn't know that.

Yay, American public schools. I love them.
