This is a strange small world, and today's a sad happy day.

I was just in time this morning, Angela was outside the shop talking to someone on the phone. I walked in and found that Shotlist was a standing room at 9:30 am. Hubert emerged from the counter and let me in. Kreme, the stylist, was taking the measurements of the models for the runway show. I took a seat and opened my laptop to finish what I should've the night before. We were just waiting for the rest of the models before we head to the client's office in manila to have them fitted and photographed while we as "Shotlist" conferred with the client's representatives.

A few minutes in, a guy arrived. Didn't catch his name the first time Angela greeted him, and didn't really care. We were already boarding the service van when I saw that he looked peculiarly familiar. I thought I knew his voice and tone too. So I kept glancing once in a while, trying to recall where it was I've seen or met him.

At the client's, while waiting for the meeting and the procedures to start, we were brought to the canteen to have our lunch. It was there that Kreme and I found out we were connected through Mike Lavarez, the fabulous Mike Lavarez. Kreme Isaac happens to be one of the ILOVEYOU peeps, too. Small world. It was also during that meal that Angela asked my opinion regarding which one guy and girl would best stand as the first and last faces of the fashion show.

I reserved my answer at that time, knowing two other models haven't arrived yet.

Back at the offices, Hubert, Angela, Kreme and I (Ice and Kreme) sat in a cubicle, finalizing our stuff. The familiar looking guy and another girl walked in and joined us. HE sat beside me, peeking at my work, while SHE sat beside Angela.

I dunno why... I just blurted out in a sudden as I aimed my thumb at him and gestured to Angela, "Heto o, first face for the show!"

Later, all the models were taken into a holding room. Outside, Hubert approached me and affirmed that he thought my pick for the lead guy was agreeable. And then together we picked a lead girl. Finally, when every model was fitted and photographed, they were dismissed, save for the two whom we picked. Those two stayed for their make-up testing and meet-the-client.

Angela introduced them once more, "Hav" and "Mary".

There it was, "Hav". At the sound of the name, all the cloudy memories returned.

Later still, Kreme and the make-up artist were talking while "Mary" was being given her do. Angela and Hubert were talking to a certain "Joanna", and everyone else in the room was occupied with something. Save for the guy called "Hav" and myself. I decided to check my designs one last time. Hav transferred to the seat next to mine and said, "Pa-nood ulit ha?". He asked me about my work... I answered, and asked my own line of questions:

Ice: "What is your last name?"

Hav: "Ha?"

Ice: "Anung last name mo?"

Hav: "Hotel."

Ice: *grins*

Hav: "Why?"

Ice: "Hav Hotel... 'Havana' Hotel. Well hello there..."

Havana: "Shet, bakit mo alam?"

Ice: "It's nice to see you. Dito pa pala kita ma-mi-meet in person."

Havana: "Teka, paano mo nalaman?"

Ice: "We knew each other. We talked a long, long time ago... 2002?"

Havana: "Saan?"

Ice: "It's me, wintersun_speaks@yahoo.com"

Havana: *celebrity complex kicking in* Wait, you must be mistaken. Nangyari na sakin yun, someone takes my photos and creates an account of me online. Pero hindi ako yun."

Ice: "Oh come on, Hav. Taga "Neverland" ka diba? Do you still come home there? Yeah, you probably won't remember, bata pa tayo non, payatot ka parin noon, unlike now. Sumali ka pa nga ng pageant diba? Ginoong..."

Havana: "Oh please, let's not bring that up."

Ice: "Hahhah... Okay. So how are you?"

And then we talked about his rising career, his being a professional model, finally, and his being a budding actor, and the hopes of becoming a recording artist.

Havana has come far from what he used to be, mas maayos na sya, but certain qualities surely remained. He hardly remembers me now, and that saga we shared. It doesn't really matter now. It's nice to know he's realizing his dreams and  building a promising career. It's nice to finally see him, talk to him face-to-face. Ewan ko kung madudugtungan yung past -kung magiging friends ulit kami, real friends this time.

Ang weird... Sa gitna pa ng trabaho ko nakita at nakamayan si Havana Hotel.
