Catching Up

....almost three weeks since I've posted. I'm bad at this.

The last (serious) entry of my live journal pretty much told the tale of my Papa's imminent death. Well, here's to making things official: On the night of May 2nd, 2007, John W. Porter passed away after a short but nonetheless courageous battle with cancer. It would have lasted longer if the cancer hadn't quite literally gone for the throat first. In any event, the whole family took comfort in the fact that he died peacefully and didn't suffer needlessly. My Papa was a baptist minister all his life, and didn't stop work until about a year before his death. The number of lives he touched was clearly evidenced in the whopping SEVEN-HUNDRED PLUS people that showed up for his funeral (this is only a guess, we figure there was more), some coming from out of the province to pay their last respects.

Liz came to the funeral with me, and was by my side through the entire thing. That girl seriously has a heart of gold, and words can't accurately describe how lucky I am to have her. (mush mush mush)

In more recent news, the last couple of weeks have been spent in an unemployed stupor, which concluded in the realization that this temping gig simply isn't paying the bills anymore. It's risky (re: unemployed stupor), and even when I have work, it barely covers my expenses. I've been firing out resumes to every government position that looks remotely feasible for a guy with a random bachelor's degree, and I've got my fingers crossed that somebody, somewhere, gives me a second look. Financially, things aren't desperate just yet, but somethings going to have to change soon.

Last week, Mr. Stanfield accompanied me to Bayer's Lake for some intense ITG action. The following is the spoils of that trip: (Apologies to Dan)

Note the demonic flare in my eyes.... I've obviously cut a deal with Mephistopheles to attain such greatness ;D

I'm as confused as you are....

In light of how much fun was had, I'm thinking about organizing an ITG get together much in the flavor of what Dan and Dave have done in the past. Some weekend in the near future. I'll keep you all post by e-mail.

Till then, everyone, Stay classy ;)

PS -- apologies for the lack of updates, I'll stay on top of this from here on in, promise!
