Interviews with Shan shoooow...
Okay so I read some interviews with Shan regarding the manga releases and the movie and his opinion on them.
Darren has approved the manga which came out last month and can be found at any bookstore near you. It's titled "Cirque Du Freak" which apparrently upset Darren greatly. He wants his series to be called The Saga of Darren Shan, not Cirque Du Freak. He loves the manga and wants all his fans to read it. He was proofreading it and edited the American translations himself.
Meanwhile comments about the movie, he finds it wonderful that they took their own turn to it. Yes, it is different from the series and wraps in the whole first trilogy of the Saga but there are a lot of differences that really really stand out. He is anticipating the movie, but he does not feel like he will enjoy it. He isn't all that thrilled and would prefer people who choose to view the series in a different media than novels to read the manga than watch the movie. Shan has already given the movie thumbs down when he hasn't even viewed it, yet.
So keep that in mind if you're anticipating the movie.
I'm not trying to be a downer, I'm just giving the news. If the movie comes out (which it is expected on the big screen in October) don't get upset with the Shan! ^^;;

During the previews me and my friend are going to sing out to the audience, "Come on guys! Are you ready to go to Vampire Mountain? Let's go to Vampire Mountain! A land of joy, and happiness, and bat broth~"
EDIT: Apparently like this past week or so Universal decided to change the name of the movie. It's going to be called The Vampire's Assistant and its coming out on October 23rd in the United States, international release unknown.
Darren ranted a whole paragraph in his blog about them changing the name the last minute. He thinks if you're going to commit to something than commit. And they didn't even change it because of Darren's arguements, they changed it because they thought it sounded catchier... =_=
