Title: A Blessing
Pairing: Green Day; Billie/Mike kinda
Rating: Um. PG-13/R.

"How long have you known?"

Billie bit his lip, curling up more tightly on the bed. The cell phone was shut now, almost obscured from vision at the other end of the mattress, the little light in the console window off now. Mike had gotten off the phone a few minutes ago, no doubt wanting to call a few more people with the good news.

And why shouldn't he be proud? Billie let his eyes wander over the pictures of him and Adrienne on the wall, listening to the sound of the wind kissing his windowsill, the Bay whispering secrets in his ears. A smile played over the singer's lips as he replayed Mike's excited voice over and over in his head.

"Brittney's pregnant! Three months. It's a little early to tell but the doc says he thinks it's a boy from the ultrasounds!"

You would think he'd never been a father before. Billie knew it was only a matter of time before Mike tried for Marriage #3. Now he had even more of a reason to try to make Brittney a permanent part of his life. Stella would make a pretty flower girl with that long hair of hers, Billie thought wistfully. And no doubt she'd dote on her new baby brother from the very first time he opened his eyes. Billie wondered if she'd resent the new life that would demote her from Daddy's Only Child.

Billie grunted, rolling onto his stomach, denim-clad ass raised slightly as he slid his hand under his belly, pressed tight against his own skin as he slipped fingers past his waistband. Mike's face was so easy to see against the darkness of his eyelids, that stupid goofy grin that would light up his face like fireworks in a night sky whenever he got excited. Billie could see Mike's honest blue eyes, hear the stumble in his voice that would always get him when he spoke too fast, smell the warm spicy scent of his skin that would get stronger and then overpowering till Mike finally got around to taking a shower. Billie never minded.

It was so easy. So very easy. Billie swallowed, all the muscles in his face and stomach tightening as he stopped breathing for that one perfect second, and then he sagged against the bed, warmth smearing against his gently-curled palm.

"Congratulations, Mikey," he breathed, lost to the breeze from the Bay.
