Today, I had to say a final farwell,
and a final goodbye.

It crept into my mind yesterday morn, when I woke up with her skinny body in my arms. I tried to make her eat, but she wouldn't keep anything down.

This morning, I fled the house at an early hour to continue with this movie I was in. I didn't see her in my bedroom, or in the house, or out the back.
She was resting under a tree out the front, and I was unaware.
At 9:30, I was talking to someone about my dying cat.
It was that time, that my heart wrenched... and her heart stopped.
In my mothers arms, she saw her last light, and smelt her last smell, and heard her last noise.

When I got home, she like a stuffed animal, lying in the basket.
I stroked her fur, and cuddled her paw.
Goodbye my precious, darling marmalade.

.....

Goodbye marmalade,
though not many... knew you at all,
you had the grace to fight for yourself,
and scratch them with your claws.

You'd scratch at the loungechairs,
as dad would.. call out your name,
"Stop ruining the furniture"
before the dog montie came.

And it seems to me,
that you lived your life,
like a fire in the wind...
not quite sure of who to cling to,
when the food came in....
And I'm so glad I knew you
Since I was a kid...
The meowing burned out long before, the echoes ever did.

Lonest ain't tough...
the toughest role you ever played,
was raising up a fat corgy cross... and barks were the price you paid.
Even when you died... oh the dog still hounded you,
all that montie had to say, was "Kill me, so I get attention too"

And it seems to me,
that you lived your life,
like a fire in the wind...
not quite sure of who to cling to,
when the food came in....
And I'm so glad I knew you
Since I was a kid...
The meowing burned out long before, the echoes ever did.

Goodbye marmalade,
though not many, knew you at all,
you had the grace to fight for yourself,
and scratch them with your claws.

Goodbye marmalade,
only from the boy who gave you a bed...
saw you as something more then... "vomit machine"
more then just our little eating queen.

And it seems to me,
that you lived your life,
like a fire in the wind...
not quite sure of who to cling to,
when the food came in....
And I'm so glad I knew you
Since I was a kid...
The meowing burned out long before, the echoes ever did.

.......

Rest in Peace my darling puss.
I will really miss you.
*Draws out a tear*
thankyou.

She was buried later in the afternoon.
The memorial service will be this thursday, at 5pm.
How did she die? Stomache cancer of some type I believe. She was old.

Marmalade Owen.
