They are bland uninteresting people.

I sort of get why Republican's love Reagan. They think he won the Cold War and in a republican's heart there is no greater virtue than winning. Except he didn't really do anything to win it. He was just there when they imploded. It's as if I went into a McDonalds, had a heart attack, and everyone blamed the clerk at the register who sold me the last burger. The Cold War was a fifty year long process and this actor comes in at the end of the fifth act to take a bow.

He gets props for negotiating the release of our hostages in Iran, but we find out later that they sold terrorists arms to get our guys out. Whether you believe he had anything to do with that depends on what you think of the man. He raises taxes, cuts important social programs, shuts down asylums, funding for mental health, champions gun rights, and one of the nutcases his programs turned loose on the street shoots him to impress Jodie Foster. How ironic is that?

Hilary Clinton hasn't even had a chance to do anything someone could hate her for. They're all worried about what she might do? What her enemies tell them she WILL do, IF she gets elected. As far as the economy is concerned, we never had it so good under Bill's administration and it looks like some of his advisors are riding along on her coattails for another go at things. She made one big push for universal healthcare back in the day, and was nearly destroyed for it politically; so you can't blame her for that.

Tim and Eric say she's for gun control, but I've never heard her speak about it. It doesn't seem to be one of her big issues.

I hate Bush for a laundry list of reasons to long to go into here. But that's because he did things that I either didn't like or I didn't like the way in which he did them. Hilary, you could make the case for disliking because she hasn't done anything special, just like I don't like Obama, and why should they be president? But it's hard to take issue with anything she's done, because the list of those things is pretty short.

Incidentally, it's the anniversary of Reagan's birthday today. The star of such films as Jap Zero, Girls on Probation, and Bedtime for Bonzo will be sorely missed.

She doesn't speak about it much because it would get her less votes.

Hillary Clinton was one of 16 Senators who voted against the 2006 Vitter Amendment, which prohibits the funding of the confiscation of lawfully-held firearms during a disaster.

I also found a list of times she supposedly voted against gun owners, but it seems like a conservative site, and I'm too lazy to look them all up like the first one. The information i remember from watching the news, coupled with my own checking turned up not one response from her that I agree with on gun control.

...or the terrists'

I concur, this election sucks balls, perhaps because I find out more every day how much the system is rigged and entrenched.

Something about, if you can't raise 50 million dollars you can't lead the nation, sounds rather foul to me.

Uhm... if Hitlary or Obama bin Laden get elected it sure as hell is going to be on the radar. In a very, very bad way. Obama wants a law BANNING CONCEALED CARRY NATIONALLY!?!? That is some fucking bullshit! Hitlary supports licensing and registering all handguns. Next logical step from that is confiscation. Fuck that.

McCain got a C+ from the NRA, which seems about right. I hate Hucksterbee, but he seems okay as far as gun rights go. Obviously Paul is all there, but I do have to be realistic about his nomination chances.

I didn't cry when the Indians lost their land and I won't cry when they take away your guns. As far as I'm concerned, we've got bigger problems, it's the gun nuts turn to take it in the neck. I've seen my issues: free speech, education, the environment, and health care, go by the board for twenty-five years while the nation debated how many handguns a two year old should be allowed to purchase at a firearms convention. I tend to see the gun debate as a trifling issue, for a small but fanatical band of men to take the electorate hostage each year, over their violent and dangerous hobbie. The candidates individual record on gun control has no stake in how I'll be voting or not voting this year. Neither does homos marrying, Mexicans driving, students praying, or whatever other ridiculous gimmick the politicians are going to trot out to get a knee jerk reaction out of their base.

I thought that you had quit voting, out of protest.

I'm on the fence, and it was never in protest, because I don't believe that kind of protest ever achieves it's intended effect. Protest needs to be active, disciplined, and pointed; or it's just for show. I stopped voting out of apathy. I didn't think that my vote mattered in this electoral system, and I didn't care if either candidate won. If somebody catches my eye, or I think my vote will matter, then I'll vote for them. This new group has seven months to convince me.

I want to go on national television and call Bush a nigger during the Super Bowl. I want titties in my newscasts like they got in Russia. I want to read a children's book entitled "Violence Jack Off". I want the plays of the Marquis de Sade to come back into fashion, so I can see Julia Roberts and Brad Pitt eating each other's feces and cannibalizing their children. I want to stick a toaster under my jacket and walk around the Mall mumbling "Allah!" But I'll settle for watching my favorite movies uncensored on tv mothertrucker! Until I get that, Tim doesn't get to walk around Idaho like an undercover superspy, or the sheriff of Moscow, shooting at mailboxes.

I think you should be allowed to do all that stuff, and also deal with the real life repercussions of it. But it shouldn't be banned like it currently is.

Freedom of speech is just about as lost currently as gun rights are.

I'll do you one better. You get me those things and I'll lobby to see you get a license to kill with each purchase of a firearm $500 or more. They'll just come with a couple little human tags. What you think about that?

I didn't read your whole post because I feel hungover, but here in the PNW, the environment is still a very big deal. Every politician at least has to pay lip service to it.
