I was at tvguide.com looking to see if anything was on television tonight, and noticed that some of the news channels, i.e. cbs, abc and nbc, were having 1 hour segments of the RNC, summarizing today's events. I checked to see who the featured speakers would be, and saw Arnold Schwarzenegger as one of them. Interesting, I guess I'll tune in for that, I thought. I continued scrolling through the tvguide listings, and then noticed that The Terminator was playing on the SciFi channel at about the same time. Big deal, right? Well, I always watch the SciFi channel, and I've never seen them air The Terminator. They may have, but it still seemed like an interesting coincidence, so I decided to prod a little.
Turns out that the Sci-Fi channel is owned by NBC Universal. Ok, nothing too big there, although a little more interesting.
Then I discovered that NBC Universal happened to be one of the main contributors providing funding for Arnold's $350,000 trip to the RNC this week.
This just got a little more interesting, yes?
I don't have time to do any more dwelling, but I just found it interesting that a channel which usually airs lower-budget movies is airing an extremely successful film at the same time the star actor is giving a national speech in support of the president. The connection that I see is quite obvious - we all know how movies influence people more than almost anything else.
Anyway, enough conspiracy theorizing for me for tonight.
Edit: VH1 is having a special documentary on him as well, which happens to be ending just before he starts speaking. Damn... how convenient.
