Hello, longlostlivejournal!
I am housebound with Morag whilst she prepares for viva - I am here on constant call for hugs, tea and, where allowed, G&T. I've been applying for many jobs, quit working in Trof at the Deaf Institute recently, where I was for a year, because average working weeks of 50hours were killing me. My sleeping pattern's still fooked.
But I MAINLY wanted to show people LIMMY'S SHOW!!
Let me temporarily digress: I have acquired an amazing Glaswegian boyfriend (who is studying a battlefield archaeology masters in Glasgow, so has many antique weapons and gets to study human remains and blow shit up and will shortly be reconstructing a 200ft flame thrower with the BBC... COOOOOOL.... I love guns and knives and fire and stuff :)) SO I am learning much about Glasgow (and that's not a euphemism). But what struck me the most was the difference in the language in terms of pronunciation and slang etc. It's so rich and amusing! I can't think of any great slang at the moment, other than "jobby" which means "poo" (ah, the great social observations of Briony, master of linguistic class). But other small things like the "police" being pronounced "pollis". I thought I was being taken for the proverbial ride, but it's true! (Forgive me if you already knew this or it seems dull to you - my mind is small!)
So this sketch show, LIMMY'S SHOW, is BRILLIANT for all that and even more.... observe if you can, I bloody love it!!
I will lazily and unattractively spatter the unadulterated links below:
