It was a fantastic night. Considering the day starting not as well as it should, and the fact that I only got a fraction of the cleaning done that I should have, all in all yesterday was a success. Having had a stressful week, with (amongst other things) untrue allegations being made about myself and a former partner being affected by these lies, I was at the end of my tether. On the one hand, I did get to update my electoral details and submit a Tax Return that I should have submitted three and a half years ago. After a trip to the Tax Agent (recommended and used by my late grandfather) at Teneriffe, that loose end has finally been tied up and I might just be able to get through this semester of uni with relatively less discomfort
Do you know that students on Youth Allowance get $80 per fortnight less than jobseekers? Does that seem right to you? But that is a digression that should be explained or discussed later, and not on this blog (I will be ending this blog - the name does not appeal to me anymore. Too pretentious, and far more obscure)
Having had time to think on things, I will likely be removing more people from my Facebook as well, simply because I do not have enough in common with them, they don't make time to catch up anymore, or I do not trust them. I want to say that this is not a reflection on them - they are (mostly) good people - however with everything that is going ahead this year I will need to be focused without distraction.
Anyhow, back to last night - Stef and I went out to Will's party at the Hilton, and bumped into a colleague from the ATO on the bus. We discussed politics and had a laugh about the state of public service (which is more fitting because Stef works for the State Government). We decided to grab dinner at Macca's (far from healthy, but good for maintaining a pretence of sobriety) before joining Will at the Hilton. After drinking a significant amount and being joined by other friends, we attempted to organise karaoke but all of the rooms were full. We decided to tory up the dance floor somewhere so we settled for the Shadow Lounge instead, where I got some bride-to-be pecking me on the cheek because of a dare (with Stef's permission and my bewilderment) and where both Will and our friend Zach enjoyed their evening immensely. Will met a Ukrainian cougar lady with whom he indulged in some Cossack dancing, and Zach picked up not one but two girls (whether they in fact picked him up is a matter of speculation by our friends). Considering how crazy everyone was acting on the dance floor, including everyone else not with Will's party, it was amazing that we didn't get kicked out. Stef and I decided to catch a taxi home just after Will left, so we said goodbye to everyone and headed home.
It will be nice to be able to say "we headed home", when we are living together, but that won't be for a good few years yet - I'm not going to rush into anything, even though I think and feel that it is right I have time...
