I was fortunate enough to hang out and have dinner with Lou back in 2006 in Detroit.
I could tell then that he wasn't in the best of shape, and he would sometimes fade out, but when he would get to talking, he was hilarious!
He told me about knowing Cyndi Lauper, "She grew up in my neighborhood, she's a good girl. And talented?? Wow!", about Mario Brother's, "That was great gig! I still get residuals off of that!" and about working with Danny Devito, "Wise Guys was such a blessing to me! Danny treated me with such respect, and I had a blast!"
We went to this great Italian place and everyone there stopped and talk to him. He would always go through his schpeil and end it with, "I'm Cap'n Lou.. and I'm talkin ta you!"
Rest in Peace Lou, and don't forget to give St. Peter a Full Nelson just to be sure you get in!
