I'm sorry this is late. I had this post all squared away by 10:30 last night, and I went to post it and LiveJournal wouldn't let me. And then it wouldn't let me an hour later. Then two hours later. I finally gave up, so here we are.

I'm wondering that too. Maybe yours is more suited to the genre? I don't often read this kind of book, so I had great difficulty in coming up with a line. Maybe it shows.

If you two were writing the book together, the first line could be yours, and the second line could be dorianegray's I think: "The day after Mitch McDeere graduated from Harvard, he found an envelope in his mailbox. The plain business envelope gave no hint that its contents were about to change Mitch McDeere's life forever." Not a bad beginning for a first paragraph, if you omitted the second "Mitch McDeere."

Argh. I think many of us got suckered by the first line of the movie, which is not the same as the first line of the book. :)
