I fell off my horse yesterday.
It was cause by a combination of things.1st of all, Darren was being a brat right off the start because he has a skin fungus.
And then I was wearing my really short boots. Bad idea, in fact, Isaac and I had already made plans to buy new taller boots later that day.
I was trying to show all the newbies how to canter. I myself had never cantered in an english saddle.
So.... I had a riding crop cause Daren was being a brat. And I used it to get him to a trot.. but when I ave the signal to canter my boot slid through the sturrup.
Now. English sturrups are metal and thinner than Western ones. So the top got caught on the top of my boot. And when I tried to slip it out I jabbed Darren and he broke into a run.
Isaac says I looked like a jockey in a race.. the way they are all up on the neck with their asses out of the seat. Anyway, I couldn't get leverage to sit back down so I was just stuck grabbing ionto the mane for dear life.
He 1st ran toward the stree, got scared by the cars, ran toward hay behind an electric fence, saw the fence and then turned and ran straight for the barn... stripped over a concrete ridge and then I emergency dismounted.
Normally when you emergency dismount you throw yourself as far to the side as you can so as not to get run over. However, because my foot was still stuck I did this whole flip thing to get it unstuck, landed right on my head, rolled about four times, and then Isaac was there helping me up.
All Cheryl, the property owner said was "DId you dent my ground?!"
Now, although this might sound like a mean thing to say, I really needed to hear that. And Kelsey made me get back on the horse and do my posting Trot twice around the arena.
Chryl reminded me that "to learn to ride you must also learn to fall. And just tuck and roll girlfriend"
so now I'm really sore, re-sprained my left wrist, and skinned my knee through my riding pants.
But as Emily and my mom said.. At least I didnt crack my helmet. Those are expensive!
