So, in the downtime between stories, here, I wanted to publish my "side notes" so to speak. Just sort of some trivia from the story An Exceptional Young Woman if you're interested.
Alden and Geoffrey are not my characters. They appeared in the episode Reunion.
The same goes for
Duncan.
Claire and Diana, however: totally mine. :)
Dean Carter was named in recognition of
Lynda Carter, the actress who played Wonder Woman in
The New Adventures of Wonder Woman. Not-so-coincidentally, she also played
Chloe’s mother on Smallville.
In spite of popular belief, no I did not intend for Diana to be Wonder Woman. I just really love that name, and her outward appearance was total coincidence.
The Jerry Shuster Scholarship was named in recognition of
Jerry Siegel and
Joe Shuster, the creators of Superman.
Mr. Christopher was modeled after
Christopher Reeve (the actor who played Superman in Superman I-IV), whom I admire very much as an actor and a man. His colleague, Mr. Williams (the Excelsior Academy Drama teacher) was named for
Robin Williams, who attended
Julliard with Christopher Reeves, another very, deeply talented man and a good friend,
who helped Christopher Reeves through his recovery from his horse-back riding accident, which led to paralysis, and eventually the formation of the
Christopher Reeve Foundation.
I didn’t write
The Tempest or
A Streetcar Named Desire, but I revere those who did.
The play The Tempest was selected for two reasons: First, that Miranda’s first reaction upon seeing Ferdinand, essentially boils down to “wow.” Second, that Ferdinand (and everyone else) are stranded on an island.
Chapter 11’s
Agent Tobias Fornell was my little hat-tipping allusion to the show
NCIS, which I love.
