Some but not enough to ensure that such progress will be long lasting.

What's so transient about it?

If we cast ourselves within petty goals and linger within obscurity, then our actions here shall be utterly pointless.

I do not know what these scientists wish for us to do but to loiter here and do nothing for this world is a grave sin of its own accord!

How is it petty to do stuff like 'keep everyone alive' an' 'make sure we have enough to eat' and 'keep the generators workin' so we have power?' And the stuff the police do, and the supply runs, an' all that extra stuff...

To me, they don't seem like petty goals at all.

The law here is weak. Their actions are constantly judged by the ungrateful masses and they are lacking the order needed to continue with their duties. They are a brave few when they are supposed to be a brave many. I commend them for surviving this long under such conditions but without a strong government to assist them, they are no better than the militias formed by commoners.

As commendable as it is to make sure that the people have enough food to eat, what shall happen if a disaster was to shadow down upon us some day? The food we cherish now can easily rot.

As for the generators, if the scientists were to limit their power, then what!?

Yes, work has begun to help change this broken world but is this all we can do? No, it is not. I do not believe this all we can do.

The human mind is sphere of pure genius capable of raising the heavens and transcending through time and space. However, if we limit ourselves to the goals achieved in the past, we will never be able to achieve other goals.

There's nothin' limiting about goals like "how about free meals at the high school." And it's not like those are the only things. What about the barn, y'know? Or Shinjiro's restaurant? Or the hospital!

Sorry, but I don't think that's the most important thing right now. Nothin' against the police... I think they do an okay job, and at least they try... but I think it's much more important that we all can live day to day than worryin' about stuff like politics.

If the scientists limit take away our power - the generator and stuff, I mean, we're just screwed - if you don't mind the language. It doesn't change if we have a government, y'know?

I see. You are blinded by the words I have used to describe the unison needed among the people here. Perhaps a government would do nothing but the unity we crave within this hell is needed!

Such unity has not been demonstrated since I have arrived here in this land. I've observed the public for months now and I see more squabbling than anything else. Without a structured society, we have done rather well for ourselves but imagine how well we would be if our society here wasn't based on constant anarchy.

Perhaps it is too much of me to wish for change to happen so abruptly but I do not see us as a collective whole surviving this ordeal without some sort of pact forged in stone.

Don't assume for me like that.

Sure, there a coupla people here that complain all the time, but most people work hard in various ways. People disagree, an' argue. That's human nature. An' it won't improve with a forced leader. Most people here work at somethin' or another, and those that don't aren't hurtin' anything. There's nothing wrong with just wantin' to live your life. It's not an anarchy. There's plenty of order.

This place has already been goin' for... what, a year an' a half? That's surviving, isn't it? Even thriving, right? We're all alive, aren't we? It's better now than it was in October. An' I think it'll keep gettin' that way. You should be patient.

Plenty of order? Where is this order you speak of because I do not see it! The people get hunted down like mere animals and children suffer at the hands of homicidal maniacs! Where is this order you speak of?

Thriving? You consider this to be thriving?

Interesting. Patience is a virtue that is constantly abused by those who claim to have it.

Bad people exist everywhere, and especially when they have powers, they're hard to stop. Even in the nicest places on Earth, there are murderers. You don't gotta snap at me, y'know. Or be rude.

If I was being rude, you would most certainly know.

Your name? Who is it that I speak with?

By your standards...

Arisugawa Sorata. Sora's fine.

That is a Japanese name I presume?

I am Lord Cao Cao, ruler of the Wei kingdom. I've studied Japanese during my time here along with English. I cannot say I am fond of either language but Japanese is very closely related to my native tongue.

Yeah, I'm from Kouya. Shingon sect Buddhist temple down in Kansai.

The writing's mostly the same, I guess. I know a coupla Chinese phrases, but it ain't my strong point. I'm impressed...!
