Spread hope like fire

[Dias has been keeping to himself for quite awhile; the duration of his 'gift' from Santa was a long one, and it's only recently that he's stopped breaking everything he so much as brushes against. He was (and still is; definitely holding a grudge) Not Happy, needless to say, although fortunately the accidental wreck that his house became fixed ( Read more... )

[Someone woke up on the wrong side of their droning. Making a roast of all things. While it may have been the one time Celes's cooking has been reasonably edible (read: not burnt to ashes), she is quite displeased.

So, she sensibly goes looking for the one person who can give her answers in this situation - her husband. Not husband. Dias.

Celes catches him in the park, watching him call out his ability names with a trace of jealousy. Or maybe that's interest.]

Well, it's good to know you didn't stick me in a closet this whole time.

[Dias stops another swing in midair, startled and...more than a little relieved by that familiar voice. And, more than that, the familiar tone. That isn't the cheery prattle of a drone.] ...I tried. Too noisy by half.

Oh? You'd think my droned self would be more 'wifely and obedient' and would be quiet. [She shrugs and glances over his form. It seems to have improved, a bit while she'd been... away.] I certainly hope I did not trouble you otherwise.

...well, you cooked better. Guess now I have to go back to eating charcoal.

I'll be sure it's extra burnt for you. Though... I was removing the roast when I woke up, so perhaps you'll have to wait for charcoal tomorrow.

[She pats the sword belted at her waist.] Meanwhile, I realize it's been far too long since I properly exercised. Care to humor me?

Hn. [Dias smirks slightly.] You just woke up. Sure you're ready to take me?

[Celes shrugs out of her short coat, and tosses it on a bench.] Well, I guess we'll find out in a few minutes, won't we?

[She rolls her shoulders and draws her sword. Celes is so excited right now, you don't even know, Dias] Ready when you are.

[So is Dias! He missed you, wife~

He slides his sword back into its scabbard, hand resting on the hilt.] Ladies first.

Such a gentleman. [Celes smiles just a bit, and steps off on her left foot to attack him from the mid-range with a quick feint. She knows she feels a little awkward and slow, and the discomfort is pushed to the back of her mind where she will analyze it later. Likely with a hot cup of wounded pride.]

[As it happens, Dias hasn't done much actual sparring practice since she was droned, either; Celes is his most regular partner for such things. But he has at least been practicing alone, so his reaction - striking her sword aside and thrusting forward - is at least more quick and balanced than hers.]

Ooh! [Celes narrowly avoids the skewer by twisting herself quickly to the right. She's fairly she would've been out one coat if she hadn't just removed it. Celes rallies and attacks again, this one coming high arc on his left.]

[Again Dias parries, this time hitting her blade with considerable force; if she were a lesser opponent, he could probably jar her sword right out of her hands. But, as a general, she's probably too canny to allow that.]

[Is that a smile on her face? Yes. Yes it is. She can feel the hit all the way into her shoulder, and ignores it to give him ground so that she can best find a point of attack.]

Thank you.

[Silly man, that was a distraction. She gets inside his space quickly] For giving me that opening, and not treating me like I'm made of magicite.

[Dias shifts accordingly, moving into her space so that his body is actually blocking her sword arm, making it impossible for her to complete a swing against him unless she backs up. It also puts them at uncomfortably close proximity to each other.] Can't afford to, can I?
