Lately
SOAR
So in other news, I'm in the midst of SOAR once again. The Christmas Season of
my job, in retail terms. We're serving 320+ people every two days for basically
all of the month of June. This is not so bad, but the main issues in this process
are that each consecutive session loses a fair amount of IQ compared to the session
before it. Thus the first session is almost always very smooth and easy. We're
finishing up our second session today and the difference is stark.
The other issue with this year is that our equipment to make the specialized
VisaCheck debit card is FUBAR! We've had a repairman here for both sessions now.
Today we are trying to replace parts in the Embosser. Woowoo.
Father's Day
This week is not one of the 6 day weeks, but instead, jedishadowolf and I
are going to help her parents move back from Alabama...yes this weekend is Father's
Day. Yes I agreed to this with absolutely NO context of the dates. No this doesn't
seem to matter to anyone else. Yes my Dad is still having issues with Congestive
Heart Failure and excess fluids. Yes I was very serious about leaving there no
later than 3pm on Sunday...even if their shit is still outside and acid rain comes.
Their idea of sharing the holidays and mine have yet to ever mesh. And unfortunately
this usually leaves jedishadowolf stuck in the middle. Her parents/family usually
look at it as somehow compromising in which they get everything they want. This prompts
the inner angry asshole in me to say "fuck'em and let'em rot." So yeah, I always
feel bad for jedishadowolf as she puts up with all the venting and railing
about her parents/family everytime this happens...cuz we all know I ain't being quiet about it.
Games
Scion is going well. The heroes_of_scion community propers as the
weeks pass. A new Scion game with a different ST will be starting up next week,
taking the spot from Castle Falkenstein. I'm not sure if I'll have the time
to write two character journals or not, but we'll see. I had alot of fun stating
and writing the (16 page) background for this character. Rumor has it that Professor
Greenchair will be supplying new God sheets soon. He also assisted me with some kanji
translation and acquisition for my Cuban Amatsukami, which makes him 12 times awesome.
This game is also special because it will allow baronsamedi to actually play without
worrying about running anything else...except maybe his zombie or something like that.
I have lost a great deal of my desire for WoW recently. Not sure why that is.
I have returned, if spottily, to London by Night of late and hope to return to a
more normal routine, though I think schedule might still be too optimistic.
Other Stuff
Hurray for wolfsdrager's new house. Gratz to the Monkey Head on the next
tooth out. And remember kids, if you don't stick your tongue in it, a gold tooth will
grow back in the hole. Very seriously hoping that we can all get together more often
now. It takes just about 40 minutes to get to their new place from mine and vice versa.
That's about all I got for now. It was about time for a real post anyway.
