These were the worst spirits she'd ever seen Charlie in, except for when they first met. It wasn't that he looked miserable, he just normally looked a bit more... vibrant. Of course, it could just be a different context that she's seeing him in. Hard to look vibrant with your nose in a book.

"Any plans for Christmas?" she added, reaching across to snatch a bite of food from his plate.

"Ed's brother's here now, so I guess we'll all be together somewhere. Not sure where though."
He raises an eyebrow when she starts stealing his dinner, and then pushes it towards her.

"Is that weird, meeting the family and all that?"

"I heard siblings fight a lot. My sister was just born, so we haven't really had that chance."

"I'm an only child, y'know? Just me and my mom at home. And the housekeeper. And the butler."

"I bet you and your mum were close? Were the butler and housekeeper like family?"
There was no doubt that he loved his mother. He was far too polite and kind and just... great to not be a guy that loved his mother.

"Yeah, we were close. And we didn't have a butler after I was twelve, but the housekeeper was always around."
