She didn't really have a destination in mind when she'd headed out of the manor house. She'd just wandered around the streets, nodding at the real people and the fake ones, enjoying the crisp evening air. It wasn't like the island hadn't provided entertainment. There'd even been a party the night before...one she went to, walked in the front door, then walked right back out again. While her friends in Phoenix had been doing the party thing, she'd been making sure the bills got paid and her mother found her way home from her latest class she was taking at the Rec center.
All of which brought her to here, the room with the stupid bookshelf, and...Bella stopped, then squeaked in happiness. A complete set of Jane Austen? Right there? Just ten feet away?
Bella tried to break into a run for the books, but her feet wouldn't move. At all. She frowned, looked around, then looked up. Above her was a sprig of the sneaky plant, and now she was trapped. "Great. Knew I shouldn't have made fun of it when Kate got stuck."
