Living on a magically beautiful tropical island and having a dragon at his back, it was easy to feel immortal. It was easy to fly up close to the sun, lean forward to grin recklessly at Toothless, and laugh as he unhooked his leg from the pedal. They were so high up that the air almost felt cool, despite the cloudless sky and warm sun, and the wind ( Read more... )

Following the black shape flying overhead, Cass moved silently through the trees running in flat shoes. Dropping down onto the sand Cass ran across the sand silently, watching the creature. Waiting for its head to pop up and look at her, waiting for an attack. She had no weapons but that didn't mean she wasn't ready for it, if it came to that.

Cass hadn't had a challenge yet but he looked exactly like one.

While Hiccup was absorbed in the book, Toothless sensed the presence of a watcher. Spending as much time on the island as his human, Toothless had come to expect people to approach them openly when he sensed them. When the silent watcher didn't come forward, Toothless curled his tail around Hiccup and looked around, eyes narrowed and ears flat against his head.

Noticing Toothless' change in posture made Hiccup tense as well, rising and tucking the book under his arm so that he was ready to jump on the dragon's back if necessary. "What do you see, bud?"

The creature sensed her; the shift in pressure, her smell, the way she waited quietly. It's whole body shifted, tensing and protecting. Like Cassandra with Steph, noting the similarity between human behaviour and creature Cass moved into its field of vision. Still tucked out of sight from the boy. Lips twitching almost into a smile, she moved quickly running silently towards it adjusting the weight of her stance.

With a powerful surge of his wings, Toothhless leaped up and over Hiccup, putting himself between the two of them. It was a challenge and a question.

"Toothless! Toothles! What are you doing!?"

Cass sucked in air, staring appreciatively at the creature and the show of force as he placed himself between him and the boy. Looking at the creature Cassandra pointed to it and her, ignoring the boy altogether. Her focus was on the creature, an answer to its question. Running towards the creature, a hint of a smile lit up her face as she darted left to go around it.

Luckily, Toothless recognized the smile and could read the way she darted. In response, he slithered in the same direction, tail sweeping out behind her as his front chased at her.

"Whoa! Hey!"

Hiccup was altogether out of his element.

Using her body's momentum and weight, Cassandra shifted throwing her weight behind her and doing a backwards somersault over the creature's tail. Moving the opposite direction, she saw an opening and took it darting around to see the boy behind the creature. Smiling, Cass moved waiting for the perfect moment to launch herself over the creatures back and tag him that way.

Toothless paused, tail up and glanced at her, eyes wide and curious as he tried to understand why she touched him so lightly. It took him quick seconds to decide it was a game and he pounced after her, teeth retracted and expression more playful.

Hiccup smiled nervously at them, a combination of highly impressed and just a little concerned.

Cassandra had rolled over the top, landing elegantly on the other side before she sprinted forward. Turning she watched the creature, the way it looked at her silent and curious, eyes wide before he bounded towards her. Bouncing on her toes, Cass waited until it was close to her before darting towards the water moving around the creature in large circles. Standing between it and the boy, Cass smiled at it.

Rather than follow her directly, Toothless moved in a wide circle, intent on playing the game, but also on making her understand that if she got between him and Hiccup, the teeth would be bared and the game would step up in a level. And not in a pleasant way.

Cass paused, tilting her head as she watched the creature moving itself between it and its young, the human boy. Pointing at herself then to the boy Cass shook her head, holding her hands out in a gesture of calm indicating she meant no harm to him. Pointing at the dragon then to herself Cass turned her hand and beckoned him with a smile. He still had to tag her back.

"Toothless," Hiccup said, voice raised just enough that she would hear him too. "I think it's okay." If they were going to play games, Hiccup was going to sit down in the sand with the dragon manual and watch them.

"Just introduce yourself next time!" He called.

Meanwhile, Toothless shifted his hips and tail left before leaping forward.

"This is our introduction," Cass murmured watching as dragon shifted hips, tail before propelling itself forward. Cass was quick but the creature had momentum and although Cass rolled away unscathed, she knew it had brushed against her. Tag. "Toothless? That's you. Hmmm, Cassandra. That's me."

Cass pointed to herself, crouched low as she turned and stood. Rolling her shoulders and stretching, Cass watched it carefully. "Ready? My turn."

"Hiccup!" he added, pointing to himself. Not that it mattered, really. This was about Toothless meeting Cassandra.

Toothless landed on his feet a meter or so away from her, crouched and waiting for her next move.
