Alistair had long since known the hut he'd been living in was too small for the amount of people living there. It'd been small when it was just Duncan and he, but with Zelda now, he truly was beginning to feel it. Though she hadn't complained, he knew they could have better, and he knew he was more than capable of providing such a thing.
It'd be easiest to build upon something already made, and he eventually picked out a decently sized hut. He known the owners, in fact, when they had been there - one had been a good friend of his - and it seemed only appropriate to be the one to take it and make it a home again. With it being deserted as long as it had been, it needed to be repaired - something he knew he could do himself. He decided he wouldn't mention it to her until it was completed, so he could present it to her as a sort of present.
He'd gained enough knowledge in the nearly two years on the island to work on the hut himself. Every day, he devoted some of his time working on the various areas that needed patching, usually when he knew Zelda would be busy with her own work with psychology so she didn't wonder where he disappeared to. Today he was working on the outer wall, replacing planks that were older or seemed to be on their way to rotting with new ones. It was a bit tedious, but he knew it had to be done.
Duncan had remained near him most of the morning, sleeping on the warm sand. It was actually only because he happened to notice the big hound suddenly was wagging his stub of a tail and seemed to be focused on something that distracted Alistair from his work. Board in hand, Alistair took a look himself at what Duncan was so interested in, and found someone was walking along the beach nearby.
"Good morning," he greeted with a smile. Duncan barked once, as if adding in his own greeting.
[OOC: Timed to the morning, the hut is situated on the southern beach, near one of the paths]
