It takes him a few hours to figure it out. They don't spend every fucking minute together, but, still, he's got used to being around her. Being around her made him feel kind of quiet in a way that he hasn't since Jingletown, lying side by side with Will on a single bed. Getting high. It's her thigs that seal it; there's nothing in her room when he goes there. He stands there for a moment, feeling his heartbeat throb in his chest and his leg.
And he doesn't know what the fuck he's supposed to do now.
There's a part of him that wants to get absolutely shit-faced, falling down until he can't get up drunk. Drunk enough to forget that she was ever here. There's this little sick part of him that just wants to sit down and cry. And then there's that old, empty part that just wants to pull a pillow over his head and sleep for weeks.
None of them win.
What he does is punch the wall in Penny's room hard enough to split the skin and, he's pretty sure, maybe break a finger. He ends up sitting on the steps of the compound with his stiff leg stretched out in front of him, his wounded hand cradled in his lap and a cigarette slipped between his lips and not yet lit.
It's then that a tear slips down his cheek.
He doesn't even notice.
ooc: Tunny has just found out that Penny has left the island. It's not a terrible time to meet him - if your pup would have seen him around the island, feel free to have them know about his prosthetic.
