Killer vines, killer toys. They're both ridiculous and yet the damage has been done. He's been having trouble sleeping again, though part of it is due to watching Sam, who distrusts her toys now and who seems angry at him some days.
"Hello, River," he says when he sees her. There are too many things going through his head right now and it's easier, maybe, to talk to someone instead of thinking too hard.

"Ni hao," she said, her smile a real one even if it was still a bit tense. "You wouldn't know who might be able to fix Niao, would you?"
She held out the bird and his detached wing, well aware of how pitiful it looked.

"I've never tried to sew before," he admits. But there are many things he's never tried before that he thinks he might be alright at if he were to try them. "Have you tried?"

She hadn't really expected it to be so easy as to have the first person she asked be the one best equipped to help.
"I just want something to be fixed, after what happened. I hate that Zoe's so scared now."

Which was why he immediately regretted the face he made at the battered toy in her hand, one which was a rather heavy cringe, at best.
"Oh dear," he breathed. "Are we looking to prevent a casualty?"

Sometimes, she heard the words coming out of her mouth, describing perfectly valid and true events in her life, and was struck by how insane they sounded. She pressed on anyway.
"You wouldn't know how to reattach a wing to the innocent bystander of an unprovoked attack, would you?"
River liked all of her students, and, as was often the case with people she knew to be dedicated to one particular set of skills, like Kurt was with performing, she had hope that they were also in possession of other talents.

Fortunately, he broke himself out of the reverie soon enough, directing his gaze at the torn wing, considering the remaining cloth and how well it could be used to patch things up without too much of an obvious change.
"You're in luck, Ms. Tam," he declared. "I happen to be in advanced sewing. Been tailoring my outfits for years now; a wing shouldn't be a problem."

"Really? Sewing must be a really useful skill to have. I've never really gotten around to learning it, but I'm glad you're willing to share your talent. Zoe will appreciate it, too."
