There was something in the room with her. Look, Lois might not have been in the whole superhero-vigilante business herself but she knew when someone was lurking behind her and when someone was watching her. And from the prickles on the back of her neck, someone or something was watching her. Something behind her, okay Lane you can handle this. ( Read more... )

Homicidal toys brought to life on Halloween to menace innocent citizens? Sounds like a job for Batgirl. She and Robin have been patrolling the island throughout the day, and things definitely got easier once she got herself properly armed. You can only do so much with the sharp edge of a batarang when you have to dismember your fluffy opponents to stop them.

Stephanie shifts the knives in her hands as she nears the suspicious sound's source. Creeping into the clearing with hereyes peeled for creepy murderous dolls, she moves forward. A twig crackles to her left and she whirls.

And then: "...Lois?"

Okay, being a pretend superhero slash vigilante was all well and good in the urban city but out here on a tropical island wearing stiletto heels, Lois was starting to rethink her costume choice for Halloween. True, it would send Clark's eyebrows sky high but it wasn't the most practical choice. And the cape? The cape had to go. How did people work with a cape?

Lois froze as her foot stepped on a twig and sighed, twirling around when she heard movement to her right.

"Geez scare a girl half to death, why don't you Steph? I thought you were the cookie monster coming back for seconds." Lois said, putting a hand on her hip. "Yeah, no it's Stiletto. Seems like my superhero costume choice was pretty apt today, huh?"

"Seriously." She looks Lois up and down to get the full effect. It's definitely...tight. And shiny. Lois works it, no doubt, but it's still basically hilarious. Steph grins at her. "I like it. Putting those boots to good use I see. Definitely fit with the name."

She opens her mouth to say something else, and that's when cookie monster strikes back. It drops from the trees with something resembling a murderous growl, and latches onto her hair.

There are suddenly improbably sharp teeth trying to gnaw at her neck.

"Hey you I thought I put you in time out." Lois said annoyed as the cookie monster dropped onto Steph. Her fight or flight responses kicking in and Lois, Lois had never been one to run scared from a physical confrontation. Emotional ones? Oh yeah but that was a whole different ball game. "Need a hand?"

Lois grabs one of the hands latched on Steph's hair.

"The problem with- ugh- these things is that you really have to take them apart." You just can't keep a teddy bear down. Well, you can, but it involves decapitation and possibly dismemberment.

It had made for a grisly morning when her knock-off Raggedy Andy doll had tried to strangle her in her sleep. She'd taken his button eye off with her teeth by the time Damian showed up with knives.

Sticking the knives in her belt, Steph reachs her hands back slightly awkwardly and grasped at Cookie Monster's other hand and the back of his neck. It's not the ideal angle, certainly way less than graceful, but it prevents Cookie Monster from puncturing her suit at the neck or her gloves.

"On the count of three pull it off, then let go and let me handle it." Props to Lois for fearlessness but courage does not prevent sharp teeth from biting through pleather. "Also try not to rip my hair out. Okay? One...two...three!"

"I know, let it just be said that my killer winning streak is turning out to be a bit of pain in the ass." Lois replied, wrestling with the creature as it struggled. There was no way she was letting it bite or attack her first real island frien though. Seriously, no one hurt her friends. "Are you kidding me? I rip one strand out of that beautiful blonde and I'll let you give me a bob."

And Lois, Lois wasn't really a bob kind of girl. Pulling the monset off, she managed to get its hands off Steph's hair then let Steph take charge. Hey, she was the one with experience in the matter of all things monster related.

As soon as Lois was clear, Stephanie twisted the monster around until she had it in front of her. Forcing its furry chin back to keep its teeth contained, Steph chanced the claws as she reached into her belt.

"Sending you back to Sesame Street my little cookie demon." One claw caught her cheek, drawing three thin lines of blood, then Steph brought the knife across its throat in a vicious slice. One more, and the head went rolling to the ground.

And still, the limbs flailed weakly in search of flesh to rip.

"Score one for team batgirl," Lois said offering Steph a high five for her effort. Steph was good, almost as good as Oliver and definitely a contender for a file in Watchtower (should Chloe ever get her ass here.) "Although you might one to work on the peppy little quips. You get a solid eight out of- hey, you're hurt."

Lois looked at Steph's cheek, glancing around. "Come on Batgirl, we're disposing of Sesame Street and heading back to mine. We'll get you something for that cheek."

"Yeah, 'my little cookie demon'? Definitely off my quip game today." She shakes her head as she drops the bear to the ground so she can bend over and remove the claws from the rest of the body. Only way to make it completely harmelss, even if this is way more work than an adorable fluff monster deserves.

She straightens up and frowns at Lois. "Oh- it's-" Gloved fingers touch the cuts tentatively to wipe the blood away and gauge the depth of the wounds, then she shakes her head. Nice moves, Steph, catch the claws on the one place that you don't actually have armor. Extremely smooth, Batgirl.

"Just little scratches. Totally fine. Don't even need stitches."

"Yeah little, tiny, bleeding scratches. Come on, if I can sew an awesome kick ass costume by hand then I think I can handle cleaning you up." Lois asked, tugging on Steph's wrist and pulling her away from the creature towards Green Arrow Estates. They'd probably meet some more of the creatures that way too but she wanted to make sure Steph was good before they ventured outside again. "By the way who designed your outfit? I always wondered if there was a Superheroes "R" Us for all your superhero costuming needs. Although if Oliver or AC designed their costumes that would explain a lot. I mean AC really knew how to rock the orange and green look."

"Fiiiiiiine. Lead on." She heaves a great sigh but capitulates and allows herself to be tugged along. Not going to get any badass points out of this one, but, hey, minimal coddling and then back out into the field.

"Barbara-the first Batgirl, did it for me. Before I just had the old suit that was getting all ripped up. And she had all my measurements, of course, because she's Oracle and why wouldn't she know my bra size, so...she had it made. It's sort of traditional Batgirl combined with my old costume."
Steph looks down at her costume and flexes her fingers inside her gloves. "I really love it. But, yeah, Aquaman's whole scaley orange thing, no idea where that comes from. Maybe it's an Atlantean thing?"

"Hey, don't you sigh at me like that young lady. If you're not rocking some kind of meteor gene of superhealing then I don't want to hear- oh my god I sound like a mom." Lois said, shaking her head and pretending to shiver. Lois could be a tad protective of those she loved or thought of as friends and apparently that now extended to Steph. "Please just ignore that whole thing because mom material? So, not me."

Lois and Clark. Clark and Lois. Things she'd thought about a hell of a lot but Lois and Clark and babies. She just wasn't cut out for it.

"Yeah? She any good with men's clothing, only I'm thinking I might need to order something red and blue for a rainy day." Lois said shaking hear head at the question. "Oh, no that dubious fashion statement is all AC. That was pre-undersea King destiny business. I tried to persuade him out of it... not out of the costume, out of the colour choice and I'm shutting up.

"You sound so like my mom right now," Steph agreed with a little laugh as she followed Lois through the underbrush. Though her mom was really good at the whole 'hmmm, daughter has strange mysterious bruises, let's not ask questions' thing. Probably for the best, for both of them. She's not going to give up being Batgirl, but she doesn't want to break her mom's heart either.

That makes Steph grin, and something young and starstruck in her chest gets really excited. Because, come on, talking about the supersuit! She'd had pajamas just like that when she was five years old. "What is that thing even made out of? Is it alien kryptonian too? Because it seems pretty damn indestructable. And, yeah, no clue what was going through Aquaman's head when he was like hmmmm, two sort of ugly colors that look great together! Let's go with that."

"Well, for a while it was made out of denim. And the red came from his jacket he was always wearing. Seriously, you could not get him to part from that thing. I swear, I thought one day I was going to catch him in the shower with it but no, no jacket and all Clark." Lois said with a wicked grin. Lois looked puzzled, turning her head to stare at Steph intrigued. "But I'm thinking you're not talking about that. So, spill what is future Clark wearing?"

Lois laughed at the comment about AC. That pretty much summed him up in a nutshell. Really, she had no idea what she'd been thinking.

Stephanie laughs, she just can't help it. She had never really thought about what Superman had looked like and worn before he was, well, Superman. Definitely didn't imagine him in jeans and a coat. It's one thing to imagine Batman fighting crime wearing a ski mask or something, but Superman is so much larger than life. "Nope, definitely not doing the jean thing from when I'm from. It's sort of- it's classic is what it is. Blue suit with the red 'S' on the chest, of course. Red cape. Yellow belt, rocking the red underwear on the outside look. It's sort of the ultimate suit. Iconic, you know? I can draw you a picture."
