One year.
One year ago, Jeff had jumped out of the study room and landed face-first into the sandy beach of this island. In the last year, he'd dealt with everything from the lamest super power ever, to a gender switch, to even the appearance of a long buried tape he'd never wanted to see again. Those and a countless amount of other things was what eventually led to him here, in the Hub, with a second drink of a few he hoped to be putting back that night. Because it was all of that that had him in this funk for the last few weeks, the weight of all the insane, stupid things he'd been put through, and not the fact Britta wasn't around anymore.
Because he refused - refused - to give her the satisfaction of knowing he might miss having her around. He was sure she'd be able to just tell, even back home, and the idea of her having that kind of smug satisfaction did nothing for his mood.
He hadn't gone to classes since then. He hadn't done much of anything, really, except not deal with it, which he'd gotten really good at doing that. Thinking about it otherwise only led to him wondering what it'd be like if everyone kept dropping like flies around him, leaving to whatever corner of life they'd come from, and he wasn't ready to admit yet he wasn't cut out for his old, solitary lifestyle anymore.
Things were so much easier back then.
Draining the last bit of his mug, he slid it over toward the bartender for a refill, not even sure when he was going to be cut off. Probably soon, he had no idea, but for now, he would take what he could get. At the very least, he was aiming to be properly buzzed by the time he left the place.
[OOC: Timed to earlyish tonight. Despite appearances, it is no better or worse a time to meet him. Just note he probably won't talk about what's bothering him unless he knows your pup. ;)}
