At least this item didn't fall on her head

Something dawned on Kate the other day as she was coaxing Sam into the ocean. It's been five years since she was beamed here. Five years since Jack found her on the beach and they made this ridiculous place a home. Every time another anniversary like that passes, it knocks her for a loop. Not like it used to, not even close. But there's always a day or two where she misses Jack like a physical ache and it's just so damn typical that the day she wakes up happy and at peace that it all goes to crap. It's not even a weird day. It's so normal and boring it's painful. She woke up with Baze, had breakfast with her kid and they're settled down in the rec room with a book. The movie has probably been running for at least fifteen minutes before her head snaps up at the sound of a familiar voice.

It's a new movie. It has to have been made since he left. She knows everything he's ever made and this is....shit. Montana Entitled. She knows this. It's the script he thought he'd never get. The indie. Jack is at home being a big movie star while she is stuck on this batshit island raising their kid. She vaguely registers Sam protesting as she stares, mouth hanging open as she watches him. He's so good. He's so much better than all of those godawful action movies and she's sitting here with his son, worlds away, watching his dreams come true. And Sam has absolutely no idea who he is.

"Sam," she whispers, pointing up at the screen. "That's your dad...that's your daddy."

Sam looks confused, vaguely unimpressed and turns back to his book with a sound, "No."

[ooc: Kate has received her fifth item! It's an indie movie called Montana Entitled starring one Jack Crew and.....let's say Michelle Williams. Open to all.]
