The Tropical Island Conundrum

Oct 08, 2011 23:56

The test of a true leader is whether his followers will adhere to his cause of their own volition, enduring the most arduous hardships without being forced to do so. His friends couldn't even endure their own petty squabbling about their fornication habits, which of course was their own shortcoming, but Sheldon could not help but find some truth in Xenophon's words, even if he was one of the least impressive Greek philosophers. Then again, he was exiled from Athens due to his poor choices with respect to leadership, so the sentiment didn't serve him well in the end.

But no, the truth was that the paintball mutiny unfolding in the tiny cabin where they were holed up, hiding from a group of intellectually inferior yet surprisingly outdoorsy Geologists, was in the end a symptom of Sheldon's poor leadership. Thus, there was really only one course of action that would be honorable and logical on the field of battle.

"What are you doing?" asked Leonard as Sheldon handed him his paintball gun and opened the door purposefully.

"Following in the footsteps of Kirk, Crunch, and Kangaroo," Sheldon said, lifting his chin and staring out into the oncoming paintball storm. He had been right to award himself the rank of Captain. This act of leadership would be one for the ages. He may even award himself a battlefield promotion.

When he stepped out onto the hill, he spread his arms wide, closed his eyes, and shouted, "GEOLOGY IS NOT A REAL SCIENCE!"

He waited for the sting of paintballs, but they never came. After a few more seconds, he peeked one eye open... and then opened both, blinking in utter bewilderment. Why did it appear that he was standing on a beach?

[OOC: First tag finds him on the beach and explains. All tags after will find him in the Compound kitchen, sitting in a chair at the table and being perfectly still as if he's afraid to touch anything.]
