As if it wasn't bad enough that Snape was here, surrounded by terrible people and terrible roommates and terrible reminders of all that he'd left behind.
As if it wasn't bad enough that he was left with so many unanswered questions, about the island and about the life he'd left behind.
As if it wasn't bad enough that he'd yet to find a single redeeming feature about this place.
He had woken up feeling a familiar sensation coursing through his body -- magic, he was sure of it. It felt different than he was used to, but he assumed it had something to do with the island, or with the fact that he'd gone without for so long. Snape had grabbed his wand and started casting spells, but all to no avail.
He frowned and sagged back down in bed that morning, disappointed that he had read the situation so wrong. Only, instead of his head landing on his firm pillow, it landed in something soft and squishy, and before he could do anything about it, he felt himself sinking into it. Startled, he sat back up and looked back at where his pillow should have been. In its place was a blob of thick black gelatin, only slightly mashed by the back of his head.
Something thick and wet dripped down the back of Snape's neck as he stared at it.
The sheets underneath him turned a yellow-orange colour, and he began sinking into them, as well.
The rest of his days had been like that, objects around him turning into jelly. If he concentrated hard enough, he found that he could control it, keep it from happening unbidden, but he was too angry, and he found himself repeatedly surrounded by great heaping piles of gelatin where every-day objects had once been.
He was trying to ignore his gelatinous mishaps, and found himself sitting in the rec room, attempting to read. There was a heap of red gelatin nearby, vaguely table shaped, with a book sunk deep into the middle of it.
It had been a table up until recently, after all.
