Kon was drawing Savannah a picture. He'd told her he'd draw her something once upon a time, but he couldn't figure out what to draw. He still couldn't figure out what to draw, so he was just doodling a little. There were a slew of papers spread out along the desk. This paper was a drawing of the jukebox. That paper was a rather crude attempt

Bart had intended to just grab a book or something from the bookshelf to try to keep from wondering what he could do with a superspeed girlfriend. He'd already ducked into the kitchen for a glass of juice, and he'd started to talk to Kon before what he was actually seeing sank in.

"Hey, do you think I could get Krypto to--

"Holy primary colors, Batman." It just came out that way, honest. Besides, what do you really say when your best friend has yellow hair?

Kon sighed and rubbed at his hair self-consciously. "I know. I don't get powers, but I get powers used against me. Not that it was really her fault. It just kind of...sucks, you know?" Of course, it looked like everyone and their brother was getting powers, so maybe he wouldn't have even gotten his old powers. Now that would be a little scary.

"She said it should wear off in a few hours."

"You haven't seen Cissie yet, have you? She's...well, I now have a lot of sympathy for you guys putting up with me," he said, not wanting to be unfair. "I'm sure she'll be around when she's not starving. Superspeed doesn't exactly agree with her."

Kon gasped a little and put his hand to his chest. He was definitely mocking Bart. "You? Have sympathy for us? Has the universe come to an end or something?" He shook his head. "No, I haven't seen her yet. I'll be sure to use all the tricks I've learned over the years dealing with you on her."

"Think Krypto would do me the favor of sitting on her for a few hours for old time's sake?" Bart asked, shaking his head a little. "I could use a break. Must be getting old or something."

Kon snorted. "You are old. Older than I am, at least." He squinted. "I think. And sure. Take Krypto. I'm sure he'd love trying to chase a speedster. Or at least he'll stop moping about not getting any of his powers back either."

"Which of you is moping more, I wonder?" Bart asked rhetorically. "It is kinda weird that she got speed. Out of all the wacky powers popping up, she gets mine. So you got skipped, too, huh?"

As if he really had to ask. "Aside from the makeover."

"Yes. I'm not sure whether or not to be pissed. I mean, on the one hand, we don't have powers. On the other hand, we don't have weird powers like turning people different colors." He grinned a little and ruffled his hair. "Even if I think this might be a good look for me."

"You look like a cartoon," Bart pointed out. "Or maybe an action figure. I'm not sure. It's definitely the S. And your hair is yellow, not anything natural."

"Hey! I don't think I look that bad." He frowned and looked down at himself. He'd thought it was pretty cool, but maybe he was wrong? Maybe. "Do I? Don't tell Savannah, okay? I don't want to hurt her feelings."

"Well, it's not a fade haircut, at least," Bart said, grinning. "And you look like Superboy. I've kinda gotten used to plain ol' Kon."

"Ha ha ha." Kon shook his head. "Hey, I'm not in the uniform. And I've always been plain ol' Kon to you guys. Except when I didn't have the name yet." Would they ever stop teasing him about the hair cut? ...probably not.

"You're in the colors," Bart pointed out. "It's just, with no need to be a hero, I'd gotten used to just being in civvies. Just being us. And I wouldn't really want powers here. It'd just remind me how useless it is to be a superhero on an island full of cops and scientists and what-not."

"I am the colors. There's a huge difference." Kon shrugged. "It's that same old thing. Sometimes I don't want to be around here, you know? I miss the powers. I miss the feeling that we were doing something. Maybe it's different for you guys. I mean, even you weren't always Kid Flash." He'd always been Superboy. When he didn't think he was Superman.

"I was born with my speed, too," Bart pointed out. "But when I lost it, when I died, it was almost a relief. I don't need powers to be who I am. None of us do. There are times when I miss it, but most of the time, I'm okay.

"But I guess you'll always miss flying, huh?"

Kon just shook his head. That wasn't what he thought, but they'd done this go around before. "Anyway, Cissie has speed. Have you seen Cassie yet?" That would be a disaster waiting to happen. At least Cissie's boyfriend had seen powers before. If Cassie got them, he wasn't sure what Sam would do.
