“Those who danced were thought to be quite insane by those who could not hear the music.”

Grace never thought she'd miss dancing so much.

Of course, just as with anyone, there had been days back home when she'd been more than a bit tempted to stay comfy in her bed early in the morning instead of going to rehearsal, but those days usually ended with her grateful that her mum or dad had made her go anyway. In the end, she loves everything about it. When she dances, she's somewhere else, she's someone else. She's Sylphide or Swanhilda, Giselle or Odette. It's her and her partner, her and the steps left alone with the music.

The clothes box has been kind enough to give Grace shoes that fit, though they're not nearly worn in enough, she got a leotard from it ages ago, and she's got the perfect spot picked out.

It seems like ages ago that she saw Maxxie dance on the roof of the compound, back when they were both forced to tell the truth, but she hasn't forgotten how perfect the spot is. It's been so long since she's danced that it doesn't feel right, going to the dance studio. Like she almost doesn't belong anymore. At least, not yet. But people don't come up there terribly often, and she can be alone, at last for the moment.

There's music left on her iPhone, from before the island, and she's been careful enough that there's still just a little battery left. Enough, at least, for one dance. The music from her last recital is still on there, and she remembers the steps like she only danced them yesterday, even if she doesn't have a partner. She can lose herself in the steps, in the feel of her feet on the concrete, even if they hurt a bit now. She doesn't have to think about the fact that she's still stuck on the island, and that it's beginning to seem as though the stage will never take her home again.

But the music doesn't last forever, and before Grace knows it, the earbuds in her hears have gone silent, her iphone's battery dead. All she's left with now are the cacophony of her own thoughts.

[Feel free to have your pup come in at any part of her dance. For reference, it'll look a bit like this (in case my link doesn't work, dancing starts around 1:45 in). ST/LT welcome.]
