It seemed like it had been so long since George was in a good mood that he'd almost forgotten what it felt like. For over a month now, it seemed as though there had always been a cloud over him, weighing him down with guilt. Of course none of it was his fault; no one could really be blamed for the way the island brought people and took them away, the way it seemed like everyone there was doomed to forever have their lives toyed with.
Maybe that would always be the case, but over the last few days, George had managed to forget about all of that. Ever since he'd gone with Nina to her appointment a few days ago and he'd found out they'd be having a girl when the time came, he'd gone from just anxious about the whole thing to... well, actually a bit excited. Sure, now it all seemed even more real than it had before, and he'd become acutely aware of just how quickly the actual date seemed to be approaching, but it was actually bloody wonderful, was what it was.
As such, George probably looked a lot less gloomy that he had over the past few weeks as he prepared Friday night dinner at the Winchester that night-- normal pub fare: fish, chips, shepherd's pie-- and if someone listened hard enough, they might have heard something that sounded a bit like George humming to himself as he set out mango pie for dessert.
[Friday night at the Winchester. Tag George, tag each other. Posted a bit late, but ST/LT accepted.]
