In the few weeks that Hank has been a resident of Tabula Rasa, a few things have made themselves apparent. Chief among them, of course, is the fact that there's something about the place that suppresses mutation. His own secondary mutation is gone, leaving behind only the physical aspect, and the Professor and Erik are seemingly without theirs as well.

It's curious, he thinks, that something on the island has seen fit to do exactly the opposite of what he'd intended his serum to do, that's he's left with his unsightly reminder when all he's ever wanted to do is be rid of it. If he didn't know any better, he'd think it was some horribly cruel irony directed solely at him, a result of what he'd said to Raven the night he'd arrived. Unfortunately, her 'mutant and proud' mantra is more than a little difficult to swallow when he's not entirely sure that there's a mutation present at all anymore. It's entirely possible now that what he's been left with can be solely attributed to deformity here, though he's not entirely convinced yet, not until he's able to be entirely sure that there's no trace of any of their mutations remaining.

Hank has spent the better part of the month pouring over blood samples-- his own, the Professor's and Erik's-- and trying to find any remnants of the genetic markers that he'd spent years trying to pinpoint. Unfortunately, he's had to start from scratch, and without Raven's unique genetic makeup, the whole process has been like taking a step backwards.

He's been at it for hours today, and at this point, his eyes are starting to cross so that he can't completely focus on the sample underneath the microscope. Maybe it's time for a break. Or some coffee.

[Catch Hank in the lab or in the kitchen grabbing coffee. Open to new tags through the weekend closed to new tags unless we've already spoken.]
