Wolf has found the big bouncy thing near the Compound.
Now that he's here, he wishes he would have found it earlier, because it's the very best thing on the island. Besides the good people, of course, and maybe the cows. They're all pretty great, but this is fun. This is the most fun he's had since Jack and that nice man let him ride in the back of the truck. It's almost like that, in a way. When he jumps, putting all his strength into it, the air rushes past him, flattening his hair against his head and all the smells of the island come to him in the wind.
When he reaches the peak of his leaps, he feels like he can see everything. It isn't true, of course, but it feels that way. The tree tops, the Compound, all the people and all their homes. From this height, Wolf feels like he can see the whole world and he laughs with joy every time he reaches the top of his jump. Then he's falling, gravity taking him and his stomach does a happy little turn before his feet hit the springy material again.
Every so often he hits at the wrong time and his legs crumple under him, sending him sprawling on top of the bouncy thing, but he doesn't mind that either. Each time it happens, Wolf only laughs and clambers to his feet again, hands pawing at the surface until he can start a new series of jumps. Although he knows he can't turn anymore, he can't help himself and he howls happily as the jumps get higher and higher, more strength being put into each one.
He jumps, waving his arms in the air, head throw back, howling at the sky.
When he jumps, he feels a little closer to the moon again. A little wild, a little free.
[He's on the trampoline, howling at the top of his lungs. One happy Wolf for anyone who doesn't mind potentially being crushed with joy.]
