Friday Night at the Winchester

For the past couple of days, George had committed himself to being as selfless as possible. Of course, he had his own worries-- the end of term being less than a month away, for example-- but with both Mitchell and Sookie worried about council results, he'd tried his best to keep things pleasant and calm. That meant lots of well-wishing, being as ( Read more... )

There are a few things that Rodney especially appreciates about the island, and one of those things is the cuisine. He understands that the options are limited, but that said, the people seem to be able to make a wondrous amount of stuff that is, for the most part, delicious.

Perched on one of the barstools, he's digging into a plate of fish and chips, a dish he's missed since arriving upon the island. He only glances up if there's activity directly around him, at which point he offers up a cursory sort of smile.

"You look like you're enjoying yourself," Eames says without preamble, sliding onto the barstool beside Rodney as he does, one corner of his mouth hitched up in a grin. Of all the places on the island, he thinks he might frequent this one the most; between the food and the owner being a friend, it only stands to reason that that would be the case. Now, he figures a little company won't go amiss, Rodney one of the people he's actually come to like in his time here.

It's a moment before Rodney responds, as he figures that waiting to speak until his mouth isn't full is the polite thing to do. "There's good food and drink - what's not to like?" he asks cheerfully, clapping Eames on the shoulder. "C'mon, get something to eat."

"You don't need to tell me twice," Eames says with a short laugh, not minding the wait at all. He lifts a hand, an attempt to get the attention of whomever is behind the bar. "I'll have what he's got." Why bother with a menu, he figures, when there's clearly something good right here?

Anyway, for the wait, Rodney pushes over his own plate in case Eames is peckish at all. "How've you been?" he asks as he does, glad for the company. "Haven't seen you around in a little bit. Definitely glad t' see you're still here."

"You as well," Eames says, all casual, though he means it. With Emma gone, the people he could consider himself close to in any capacity diminished by about half (not that this would ever be a substitute for that); having someone else still around that he considers a friend, or as much of one as he ever has, is always a good thing. Picking up a chip and absently biting into it, he shrugs. "And I've been alright, I suppose. No better or worse than usual. And yourself?"
