With the school term nearly out, Castle no longer spent most of his free time writing, grading, or planning lessons. When he wasn't occupied with that or his personal life, he roamed the island as a vagabond of literature might in exploration of dinosaurs (Crichton, eat your heart out), plants, and spying on the occasional fictional character's romantic entanglements.
He really wished it wasn't so crass to do the actual stalking part.
In all his wandering, he'd found a good number of interesting things -- ranging from things from all his favorite books and some of Alexis' -- and people. What he had only just recently found was the laser tag park. How could he have not known this existed? How was it that it didn't summon out to him in his dreams, beckoning him closer? It was like putting a star-crossed romance in front of Nora Roberts and her just ignoring it. It was blasphemy to even think that Castle hadn't discovered a way to have fun on the island in all this time.
It didn't matter because Castle was making up for it now with a vest weighing heavy on his chest. He was sweating and he'd even found some face paint to smear on his cheeks, giving him a rugged and very handsome warrior look, if he did say so himself. He was breathing hard, sweat dripping down his back as he dove into the life of a fighter.
It was Snowpocalypse: The Reckoning, but with more lasers.
The only problem was that it didn't really have as much of an effect when the passers-by weren't wearing a vest, which was why he had established a pile on the nearest boardwalk. He peered around the corner, laser-gun in hand and camo-clothes helping to blend him in -- well, they might have, but they were black and grey, making him stand out more than anything.
"Ho there!" he called out when he saw feet approach on the boardwalk. "Friend or foe?"
