Eden hasn't lost track of the specific spot where she first appeared on the island; she never knew where it was. At the time, reeling from her arrival, blood in her hair and, sometimes, eyes, head pounding and heart racing, the exact location was of approximately zero importance to her. She doesn't, for that matter, remember the stretch of beach ( Read more... )

The beach wasn't somewhere Rahne spent too much time, having figured out in her early days on the island that even with sunscreen, she was too prone to getting burnt. It wasn't like she had any real interest in sunbathing or anything like that, anyway, finding it dull, pointless, boring. However, as destinations went, it wasn't a bad one, by nature of existing. She wasn't running today, as Jamie had put it a week or so earlier, like the devil was chasing her, but rather walking along the shore, barefoot, shoes dangling from one hand ( ... )

"She likes a lot of things," Eden says, glancing up with a small smile. Origami's easier to get on with than Mr. Muggles in that way, and the latter's at home with Claire anyway. He's more Claire's dog than Eden's own, anyway, living in her care until some member of his real family could show up. "Although I think she's more interested in trying to eat them than performing anything." For that matter, Origami seems less than inclined to go far, watching the stranger with some interest without trying to approach. Instead she mews loudly, turning around in a half-circle and standing up on her back paws as if that might afford her a closer look.

"Somehow, I don't think they'd taste very good," Rahne laughed, shaking her head at the prospect. The cat was a darling thing, really, and she crouched without even stopping to think about it, reaching out to gently run her fingers over the back of its head before looking up again, one corner of her mouth pulled up in a crooked smile. "What's her name?"

"Origami," Eden said, smile warming all the more for it as Origami butted her head against the redhead's hand, mewling. "Because of her little ears. She's a Scottish Fold." She laughed, rolled her eyes. "I was never an animal person before she showed up." She was beginning to sound a bit like Mrs. Bennet, but then, that wasn't such a terrible thing.

"Ah, she's in good company, then," Rahne said, unable to hold back the smile that accompanied the name of Origami's breed. It was a fitting name, too, come to that, little ears folded over the way they were. Maybe it was a genetic thing, making her automatically predisposed to find the cat so adorable, but either way, she stood by her original opinion. "That makes three Scots on the island, now."

"You, her and who else?" asked Eden with a grin. She had to assume she meant herself, given the context and the accent. It made her almost laugh, imagining the cat had an accent of her own. Origami had been here for years now, but she was still on the small side, except when she stood up on her back paws like a tiny person.

"Amy Pond," Rahne answered, voice lilting up almost into a question, as if to look for some spark of recognition. It wasn't really the important part, though, and she continued, more teasing than not, without waiting for a response. "We could all start a club. Ye'd be invited, of course, on Origami here's behalf." Remembering herself, she held out a hand. "I'm Rahne, by the way."

Eden smiled, reaching over to shake her hand. "Eden," she said. "Nice to meet you - on behalf of us both. I've seen clubs with sillier bases, I don't see why not. With Origami as a member, it might be the cutest club here." She didn't know Amy Pond, although she'd probably have recognized her if she saw her. Everyone around here became familiar after a while.

"Oh, I'm sure it would be, for that reason alone," Rahne agreed warmly, casting the cat another brief glance and unable to help smiling for it. There was nothing serious about it, of course - mostly because she doubted such a club would ever get anything done - but it really had worked out surprisingly well, the cat being one of her countrymen. "Pleasure to meet ye as well, Eden."

"Pull up some sand," Eden invited with a wry smile. "We were just looking at some plays. And by we, I mean, I was wavering over them and she was napping on them." She was still torn as to whether or not to even attempt to put something on or film something, but really, that was no way to accomplish anything. She had to pick something and commit, if only so she could have more to do around here.

"Oh, of course," Rahne said, as if that ought to have been obvious, settling on the sand with her legs bent up to one side at the invitation. "They're all plays, then? To do what with?" It at least made her a little more certain that she did recognize the other woman from having been in the one Jamie directed, though her attendance having been for his sake, she didn't remember much about the cast. Now, it just seemed logical.

"Haven't decided," Eden said. "Perform, of course, in some way, but I'm trying to decide whether to convert the lucky winner into a movie or try my luck on the stage." It wouldn't be her on the stage, of course, since she didn't think she could pull off directing and starring, no matter what Lily thought, but the point still stood. There were so many possibilities (and only so much time, though she couldn't think about that now).

"Oh, either way, that should be interesting," Rahne said thoughtfully, chin dipping in a nod. "Not enough of anything like that around here, if ye ask me." She'd never been all that artistically inclined herself, but could appreciate it nonetheless; the infrequency with which there were any staged productions around here was something that legitimately surprised her. Given the people and how little else there was to do, it seemed like it would only make sense for there to be more. "Ye've got equipment to film with?"
