Dated March 26 and 27, 2011:
He'd wanted so desperately for a chance to deal with it before, to come back and make some sense of of the chaos everything had devolved into; now, being reminded of it so suddenly, it seems nothing short of overwhelming. He doesn't know how much people will have been told, or how he'll be able to juggle school and a lawsuit and taking care of Olive, the latter something he refuses to let fall by the wayside. Later, he's sure, he'll be grateful for it, but the pain hits hard and fast all over again, like a punch to the gut, or a scab ripped off a wound that has just begun to heal. "I just got back from California," he says, and the words come out forced, strangled. "At least, that's what it looks like. I just got back from California after finding out about my shares."

Eduardo wakes up back at Harvard with Olive in tow, and begins addressing what he involuntarily left behind when he showed up on the island. For the most part, it's easier said than done.

[ I, II, III, IV, V | mostly complete | PG-13]

Dated March 28, 2011:
Eduardo remembers what it felt like thinking she was about to kiss him in the dorm, like answering an unasked question, and he knows now that that was wrong. She has asked, and his answer will never be anything but yes. This time, there's no phone call; this time, he gets it right, his hands at her waist again already even before her lips meet his. There's nothing to misconstrue, nothing but the two of them, the way he recalls it being in his room in the few moments they had of everything feeling okay, and with his eyes half-closed and her mouth against his, he thinks maybe he's wanted this for a long time, thinks he'd like to let it last even longer.

After the two wake up on the island again, Olive makes a confession, and they wind up as something they weren't before, though little has actually changed.
