Chris has spent most of the morning tidying up. Maybe it's a bit mental, but at this point, the floor's got so many clothes carpeting it, and so many dishes and other shit he's nicked from the compound that he's lost track of Anwar something like five times in the past week. It's long overdue, even for Chris ( Read more... )

She doesn't come here often. After all, it's the pool she leapt into hoping to never resurface again, but Cassie finds she doesn't mind so much when she passes by.

And so, it's with only small knots in her stomach that she approaches, only to feel them ease at once at the sight of Chris. "Oh wow," she says in genuine delight. "But, you're here."

"'lo, Cass," Chris says, and only glances up at her for a second before he's looking at the water again, eyes peeled for the blue fish he's sure he saw not too long ago. It was too fast for him the first time, but now he's determined to get it.

"I'm tryin' for one of the little blue ones. What d'you think?"

"I think they sound lovely," says Cassie, even if she's not sure she's ever seen any in this particular pool, but there some are details in life that Cassie fiercely absorbs, and some she lets simply float by her.

"Chris?" she asks, grinning. "Do you mean to catch them with those little cups in your hands?"

"That's the plan," Chris confirms, with a bit of a nod, "From these to the bowl, then I reckon I'll figure it out from there."

He hasn't got an aquarium or anything just yet, but all they'll really need is a bit of clean water. They're on an island, so there's loads of that.

Cassie begins gathering her hair on top of her hair, securing the pile with an elastic from her wrist. "Don't you think you'll have more success if you go in after them, rather than waiting in hope?"

"But they'll all run away then, won't they?" he replies. "It's all about patience, Cass. All I've gotta do it outlast them."

Though, he's been standing there a while now, and his legs are starting to cramp a bit. He also could do with a spliff, but if anything's bound to scare them all off, it's the smoke from that.

"Perhaps at first," says Cassie, sitting at the water's edge. The water soaks her skirt, and for a moment, it's just as it was before, but there are no rocks sewn into her garments today, and Cassie smiles as she pushes off, letting the water take her.

"Give me a glass."

"Yeah, alright," Chris says, and his expression widens into a bright grin as he hands one over. They can use their hands to cover up the opening when either of them catches one. That is, if they'll even come anywhere near now that Cassie's disturbed the water.

But what's done is done now, so Chris wades in a bit further himself, keeping his eyes peeled for any who haven't managed to get further away yet.

"D'you know... I think maybe I should've tried to find a net." he decides, suddenly.

"Nonsense," says Cassie. Fighting the air that wants to buoy it up, she submerges the glass in her hand and keeps very still after, body stiff until the only movement around her is the gentle swirl of her skirts. "You need only believe they'll come to you, and they shall. Chris? What are you going to feed them?"

The look on Chris's face then clearly reveals that this isn't something he's thought of. He can't exactly nip round to a pet shop to find something here.

"I dunno," he admits, with a bit of a shrug, "What d'you think's in those fish flakes?"

Cassie pulls a similar face. "Vegetables?" she guesses. "Bits of smaller fish?" She laughs, wading slowly towards a crop of blue fish nosing at the rocks. "These seem quite content to eat something off the stone."

"I think that's called cannibalism," Chris says, and he's not sure he likes the idea of encouraging them to eat each other straight off. He's had fish die and came home to find some of the others have started in on the dead one, and it's fuckin' disgusting is what it is.

He sees her headed toward what looks like a big group of the ones he really wants and tries to be as till as he can again.

"Careful, yeah?" he cautions.
