For the first time Logan was really starting to feel like the adult he was now. All that anger that had consumed him over the years was finally starting to fade away, and it was getting easier to focus on the future and forget the past.

He was laying on the beach, his eyes shut as he worked on the tan that never really seemed to fade. Linus lay beside him, only occasionally getting up to chase something in the surf or to dig a random hole in the sand. In a way the large golden retriever was growing up too. ...It had been ages since he'd tried to catch a crab after all. That had to count for something.

rolling over onto his stomach, the towel moved a little, but Logan didn't care. He simply folded his arms under his head and closed his eyes again.

It was peaceful- at least until Linus came bounding back over with a large bit of driftwood in his jaws. With a bark he dropped it right on Logan's back, prompting the young man to make an annoyed sound.

"Do you ever stop?" he asked the animal without even opening an eye. Linus simply barked happily, taking the bit of wood back and racing towards someone who was heading their way.
