If you're reading this, I'm probably not around anymore...There's dirt under my nails. I don't know a fuckin' thing about gardening, but I don't have it in me to let his flowers die. It seems like a part of him, one of the only parts any of us have left, his ashes scattered in the dirt under the cascading blue bells and morning glories, the new, ( Read more... )

They hadn't spoken since that day- and it wasn't that Logan had avoided him so much as he simply hadn't been sure when would be the right time to go and say hello.

Now seemed as good a day as any.

Slipping into the Winchester he made his way over to the other man. It was a lucky guess, finding him here, and he offered a faint smile as he perched himself on the stool next to his.

"Fetch me a beer, wench," he joked lightly, gently nudging Neil's calf with his foot.

"Fuck you, man," I say with a faint smile, kicking him back and handing over the joint without being asked. I knock back the last of my drink, sliding off my stool and making my way around to the other side of the bar.

"You're lucky. This is a decent batch," I say, pouring him a beer from the taps and sliding the glass across the bar toward him.

"Please, like I can tell the difference between good and bad beer after being here so long," Logan laughed, taking the beer. "Thanks, man."

He took a pull off the joint and then offered it back.

"I was going going to stop by sooner, but- you know. I thought you might need space, and then there was the whole coma thing."

"Jesus," I mutter, leaning across the bar to take the joint and pulling in a deep drag.

"Where'd you end up this time?"

"Jack's home world," Logan replied. "It was a warzone, and Jack, being jack, marched us right into battle. I'm okay, but he's... I dunno. It hit him hard I think."

He scratched the back of his neck.

"How about you?" he asked. "You holding up alright?"

"I dunno, man. I mean, yeah, I guess. It's just... rough without Abby here, and Dean's fiancee vanished yesterday," I admit with a shrug, not feeling any need to lie to him.

"I'm sorry... 'Bout Jack, I mean. This place..." I don't know. I used to be its biggest fuckin' supporter, but these days it's harder and harder not to see the darkness edging in around us all.

"It's fucked," Logan finished for him. "It's really fucked."

He sighed and rested his elbows on the counter. "Don't get me wrong, I'd still pick it over Neptune, but- I dunno. I'm sick of watching it hurt people."

"I don't give a fuck about this place," I admit, taking another drag and then passing the joint back.

"I mean, I like havin' the bar, and I'm like... halfway respectable or whatever, but it's... It's not the place. This place is like the fuckin' abusive boyfriend we all keep crawlin' back to. If I could... If I could take everybody home with me, I'd do it. But I can't have any of those people anywhere but here. And I think it knows that, which is why it gets off on playin' with us."

"I still love it, but maybe that's just 'cause I've never known anywhere that wasn't fucked," Logan replied honestly.

"I wont lie though- I'm glad it didn't drag me back to Neptune. Jack's home was a mess, and- I was pretty sure we were both going to die, but at least it wasn't home. That's screwed up, I know, but- It's the truth."

"That's 'cause Neptune's like, the third circle of Hell. I'm kinda surprised it never dragged us back there," I say, grabbing a bottle to refill my glass.

"But then again, it never brought you back to Hutchinson, with me. Maybe it was tryin' to spare us, for once."

"Or maybe it just knew it didn't need to torture us when we were both so busy torturing ourselves," Logan replied, snorting softly to hide the sad tone his voice took on.

"Whatever. It's over. I'm fine, he'll be fine. Screw the island, man."

He looked Neil over and nodded. "You look a little better. How are the girls?" he asked.

"They're... I don't know. Abby bein' gone, so soon after Mike, has kind of fucked 'em up. They're moody as hell," I admit, "They just... they don't understand, you know? All they know is that things aren't right."

"That's rough, man," Logan replied, rolling his shoulders as if they were stiff, and then leaning forward with both elbows on the counter again as he hunched forward.

Some days it was as if Logan was physically incapable of sitting up straight.

"They'll be okay though- kids are tough like that, you know?"

"Yeah, I know they will. It's just rough, you know? Not bein' able to do anything for 'em," I admit, swirling the drink around in my glass and looking down at the deep scratch marks on the bar. Sirius Black was here.

My lips twitch at the corners.

"Sorry, I'm just... you know."

"I get it," Logan replied with a small shrug. "You want me to get out of your hair? I didn't really need anything, I just thought I'd see how you were."

"No, man. It's fine. I mean, if you wanna go, that's cool, but I don't mind it. Havin' some company, I mean," I admit with a shrug of my own, "You hardly ever come around here, I'm not gonna run you off, yet."
