Zuko's had a Tsungi horn ever since the snow disappeared and he has yet to play a single note on it.
If asked, he'd say he doesn't like playing it, that it's nonsense for people who don't have anything better to do besides sit around and play music. The truth is that it reminds him too much of Iroh, and of all the ways Zuko's let his uncle down. The memory of his betrayal, of foolishly siding with his sister against his uncle, haunts Zuko on a daily basis. And now that he's here, on this island, it doesn't matter that he's not even sure forgiveness is possible, because he might never get the chance to try and earn it. The appearance of the Tsungi horn, safely stowed in a case with a tag labeled To Zuko, Crown Prince of the Fire Nation has only served to add salt to the wound.
He's carrying the horn with him now as he walks to the Compound. His broadswords are with him as well, strapped to his back. There are a couple of places Zuko knows he can keep his things where they'll be safe, but with no fixed home of his own, he sometimes ends up just carrying it all with him, something that's definitely familiar. At least here, he's not a fugitive.
Zuko's also got more to fill his days now, between a few classes at the school and his new job. He'd happened to walk by when the owner of The Catscratch Club was hanging up a new Help Wanted notice, and the next thing he knew he was agreeing to take a job as doorman, figuring it was a way to be useful and keep busy. It hadn't even phased her when he said he couldn't read or write the island's common language. She'd just informed him she was fluent in Chinese as well, and it was fine for him to write the list in that language. He's working all six nights for now until they get a second person, and it's a pretty simple job, standing just outside the entrance and taking down everyone's names while looking as intimidating as he can with his trademark scowl and his broadswords visible over his left shoulder.
Zuko reaches the Compound, feeling a little antsy for no particular reason, like he's got some pent-up energy he needs to expend. He's just about to go up the steps and inside when he gets an idea and goes around to the side of the building instead. Placing the Tsungi horn in its case carefully on the ground up against the Compound wall, Zuko backs away a fair distance and runs straight at the wall of the Compound, scaling it nimbly until a few moments later he's standing on the roof. Sure, there's probably a ladder or something around the other side, but where's the challenge in that?
