Ever since the snow ended, there had been a bit of an extra spring to Bill's step, and it wasn't because of the return to normal island weather. Ron was on the island

Coraline was eating. Not a lot but she was eating which was a start. Coraline had a little bit of everything on her plate and was carefully picking at it as she tried it. Coraline was confused; classes were hard, life was even harder and to make matters worse her close friend Luke was apparently a murderous villain. Coraline didn't know what to do about that if it was true which she really hoped it wasn't.
Sighing, Coraline looked up and watched Bill as he whistled. She wished everything could be that easy but it wasn't and she wasn't sure how to make it easy again. Pulling out her notebook, Coraline hummed along with Bill as she began to concentrate on her homework. Percy was Wrong, he just had to be. Luke was too good a kisser to be a villain.
"Eighteen," Coraline replied not looking up from her section of spellings. Coraline could certainly have rivalled Hermione Granger for being keen about school and lessons and Coraline didn't even have a time turner to help. Coraline finished the page before she looked up at Bill. "I already dropped one though and um, I don't think I'm supposed to go back to the other."
"It's not that many," Coraline said. At school she would have probably taken twelve then with extra curricular activities or after school classes it still would be close to eighteen. "And being as good as Hermione Granger is not a bad thing. She's cool."
Coraline shrugged. She hadn't done anything bad. "I didn't do anything bad, I'm just... it was hard. And I sort of fainted."
"I didn't say it was a bad thing, but Hermione had the help of a Time-Turner," Bill pointed out with mild amusement. "There are only so many hours in the day."
At the mention of fainting, he frowned, concerned. "What's this about fainting, then? What class was this?"
"I've got enough time, I've still got Sundays." Coraline said as she played with her food. She was making an effort though to eat another forkful instead of just ignoring it and feeding it to Cat.
"Cardiovascular conditioning and I just went dizzy. And sort of fell, like fainting but um not. I'm okay," Coraline replied. She hadn't told Bill that on purpose. Bill would worry, Bill might make her see a Doctor or worse ground her or something. Bill was cool, grounding was most definitely not. "I'm trying to put a roof on without foundations. That's what Mister James said anyway."
"Homework," Coraline said. Even if Coraline hadn't have had homework then she would have made herself do some anyway. Coraline liked to be kept busy, it kept the dreaded boredom at bay. "I've got lots. I'm taking eighteen classes, well seventeen now. There were these parasites that invaded the beach and attacked my legs and they made me go all wobbly and fall so the teacher thought I was too weak. They're really cunning parasites."
"No, they're travelling parasites. They don't stay in one place for very long, I think they're near the Orchard now." Coraline said seriously. Coraline hadn't felt the need to tell stories in a long while, now that her family was gone she never stopped. "That would be nice. Are you taking some of the art classes? There's only me in Painting Three and me and Xander in Drawing Three."
"I'm sure they do, all terrible things slither and fly." Coraline said. Though she knew that the most terrible thing of all clicked and kreaked and skittered across wooden floors. Coraline didn't like to think about that or her for very long though.
"Let's see- your work, I mean." Coraline said leaning over to look. Coraline's own artwork tended to be as curious as its creator. "I like showing things how they truly are not just how we see them."
Coraline looked at the monkeybirds. They were like pigeons and gorillas all in one. She could imagine how they would move, the turning off their heads and how they'd move quickly through the air. Coraline could hear their voices even.
"They're beautiful," Coraline said. She pulled out one of hers, showing devolving trees from full lush trees to the mere ideas of trees. Lines and shapes that simply implied tree rather than showed it. "These were in the Other World."
