TJ still hadn't gotten the hang of being a mother. She had gotten a...care package, she guessed, mysteriously dropped off on the front steps of her hut that had a bassinet and a mobile and that helped with giving Carmen a place of her own to sleep even if she still ended up in TJ's bed half the time. A puppy had come along with, a spunky little pug that she named Rhett because she loved Gone with the Wind and, well, it reminded her a lot of Everett. A lot. Must have been the tenacity.
Manuevering both puppy and baby up to the Compound was a headache and a half, especially since TJ had a basket of clothes as well. The makeshift sling she'd made from an old sheet worked okay to keep Carmen up but she wondered if there was a place she could find needle and thread to reinforce it. Old habits died hard, apparently, and those lessons learned from her dad were still coming in handy.
Making her way into the laundry room, she kept Carmen on her shoulder as she worked, humming a little and separating clothes until the puppy decided to make his presence known by chewing on a towel.
"Rhett! No!"
It was going to be a long day.
