Geoffrey doesn't plan to stick around for the speeches themselves, not this time, but it's probably good for him to get out and engage with people again. Or if not actually engage with people, because that's very low on his list of things he has the remotest desire to do right now, then at least stand up and say a few words. But this year it's more like acting that it's ever been before.
"Good afternoon ladies, gentlemen, children, pets, and other assorted beings present today," he begins, momentarily squinting out at the crowd without making any actual effort to make anyone out. "In a few moments each of your candidates for Island Council will take the stage to try to compell you into voting for them. After speaking each candidate will be open for questions, so listen to them, save it up, and ask afterwards. Let's all have a courteous and informative afternoon."
Or if not courteous, because this is politics after all, then at least an informative one.
He gives everyone a wave, both a simple greeting and an indication he's done, then vacates the stage for the first speaker.
[OOC: The only top level tags should be Council nominee speeches. Questions or responses can then be directed to any of them. This post is open until voting begins.]
