Today in the enchanted bookshelf -- he sort of hated calling it that and made a mental note to figure out another name for it -- he had found a book of crosswords. It was like some kind of sign. He gave a smile and plucked them off the shelf, hoping no one would miss them. One half-chewed up pencil later, he was heading down the path towards the beach. Chase settled in beneath a tree and began working at the puzzle, chewing on the eraser tip end of the pencil and just enjoying his time.
He had a good view of the ocean and he felt like it was the early days on the island again, just him and the waves and the sand. He let himself drift off into the puzzles, legs jutting out into the path as he sat with his back pressed to a tree.
All he really needed now was...well, he could go for a feather-down mattress. And a duvet. And a full kitchen. Possibly a steak. But for then and there, crosswords and mangos would have to do.
