An optimistic person might say it only takes Scott four hours to show up at the abandoned building, but Kim’s pretty sure optimists don’t get kidnapped by psychotic Japanese twins at four in the morning, strung up in a cage in a condemned building and left to stew until drunk on way too much tequila becomes still drunk and kind of hung over, still ( Read more... )

Niko had seen his share of odd things since arriving on the island, dinosaurs still topping a relatively-shorter list than other people had, but he had yet to encounter someone strung up in a cage. Seeing as how the cage hadn't been there when Niko had his run a few hours earlier, he deduced that it had come with someone and, by the sound of it, a very vocal someone.

"I would normally make a remark about impatience and it's lack of usefulness, but I don't think anyone could be patient in that situation. I assume it's locked?"

Kim doesn't know why she even leaves the house anymore, considering the string of winners she's met in the last twenty-four hours. She really shouldn't expect any better of Julie's parties, but at least this one had just been a party, no theme, no costume required.

Someone could have mentioned the island getaway she'd won. "No, I've just spent the last four hours hanging out in here of my own free will," she answers archly.

Sarcasm was familiar, if still grating, and Niko nodded once. "If you can pick the lock, I'll let you down. Otherwise, I'll climb up and pick it myself, but that might take much longer. I'll leave it up to you."

It seemed the island yet again was displaying its own macabre sense of humor when it came to arrival.

"Thanks," she says blearily, pulling herself up with the bars, "so glad to finally have some say in the whole mess." Digging through her bag, she blinks at her dead phone and pitches it irritably out of the cage, not really caring where it lands.

There are some barrettes floating around in there, might be worth a shot. "I guess I'll try it myself, sorry if you end up hanging around bored for a small eternity," except after the last few hours, she's not going to be sorry about anything pretty much ever again.

"I can be very patient if need be," Niko gave in exchange, looking upward. "My only real question is did the cage come with you or did you materialize in it when you showed up here?"

He had been tied up prior to his arrival but, when the warehouse had faded into beaches, the bonds were gone. How odd that she would show up still imprisoned, at least by what he'd seen in comparison.

"Does this place generally have cages growing on trees," she asks, taking a second look around at the foliage. Yeah, no, she's alone up here, a big eyesore of a cage in the bright fucking jungle. Rolling her eyes, she starts working on the lock: there's no telling how long it could take and it'll only take longer if she has to pause to drunkenly condescend to the guy standing there waiting to help her.

"I got to enjoy being kidnapped first, I might have gone a little more willingly if they'd told me there was an island getaway included."

"I arrived chained up in a warehouse, so I know how you feel regarding the relative warmth of welcomes," Niko said, tilting his head to look up at her. "This island has a rather macabre sense of humor at the best of times and this, I presume, is not the best."
